Porsche uprose a hit-the-deck hard version with upgraded chassis, racier styling and of course added more power to the 2017 Porsche Macan GTS
Porsche is known for giving GTS treatment to the hardcore, driver-attentive versions across its range. The GTS version of the Macan baby SUV gets a 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 engine as seen on the Macan S only to be upgraded to 355bhp and 369 pound-feet of torque.
Slotting in between the Macan S and Macan Turbo in terms of performance numbers, the extra 25bhp enables the GTS to sprint from 0-100kph in 4.8 seconds. As standard, Porsche offers seven-speed PDK auto box and four-wheel drive system.
The Sport Chrono pack fitted, in itself, makes the Macan GTS four-tenths quicker than the S but still two-tenths shy off the Turbo model whilst hitting a top speed of 257kph.The peak torque offered across a wide range of band from 1,650 up to 4,000 rpm makes the engine extremely road-sticky exemplifying its high performance status and comes with GTS-specific Sport Design pack.
Understandably, the efficiency drops slightly from the S as the GTS retains 31.4mpg economy and CO2 emissions stand at 212g/km. The German automaker has put more thought into the handling characteristics as it’s a GTS with the Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) configured to a more sporting state of tune.
Whilst the ride height has been lowered with wider rear tyres sit on black 20-inch wheel rims for extra grip through corners, LED headlights are available as an option.
The PASM can adjust the ride height up to 10mm and damper stiffness depending on road conditions. It comes as standard equipment besides a DAB radio, bluetooth front and rear parking assist and an electric tailgate. Moreover, buyers can take part in a free course at the Porsche Experience Centre at the fabled Silverstone circuit in Northamptonshire.
The Macan GTS features a standard leather package and sport seats with Alcantara accents plus GTS logos on the headrests. In the optional interior package, a Carmine Red tachometer and contrast stitching, seat belts and embroidered GTS logos on the headrests are available for customers.
Courtesy of Porsche Connect and Connect Plus systems, Apple CarPlay smartphone integration and an LTE WiFi hotspot are also for the taking. The performance-focused Macan GTS will go on sale next March in the US as prices start from £55,188.
