It’s been only just over a month in of 2018 and Maruti Suzuki has already launched its most-anticipated car of the year. After impressing us by a big margin at our road test, the new generation Swift goes on sale in India with starting price of Rs. 4.99 lakh and it’s undoubtedly the most sought after car at the ongoing 2018 Auto Expo in Greater Noida.

The new Swift starts with pricing of Rs. 4.99 lakh and it goes all the way up to Rs. 7.96 lakh for the diesel AGS (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The third-gen Swift has retained the tried and tested 1.2-litre K-Series engine with same power and torque figures. The DOHC engine with Multipoint injection develops 83 bhp at 6,000 rpm and 115 Nm at 4,000 rpm. The 1.3-litre turbo-diesel DDiS continues to produce 74 bhp at 4,000 rpm and 190 Nm at 2,000 rpm.
Both the powertrains are connected to either a five-speed manual transmission or an AMT gearbox – the latter has been offered in four trims. Despite the same engine lineup, Maruti Suzuki’s engineers have made changes for better mileage.

Resultantly, the 1.2-litre petrol engine has improved fuel economy of 22 kmpl while the 1.3-litre diesel offers a highly impressive 28.4 kmpl thanks to the new platform.
The new Swift comes grafted with a sharper exterior with a more pronounced front end. It features projector lamps with LED DRLs, a sporty front bumper, floating roofline design, pillar mounted door handles, a completely revised rear profile, etc.

Inside the cabin, the new Swift now gets a new multi-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel with mounted controls, large two-pod instrument binnacle with multi-info display wedged in the centre, redesign dashboard and instrument panel, revised HVAC controls and upgraded AC system.
Other important changes are improved switches and knobs with premium quality plastic materials, contrasting fabric stitches on the door trims and dashboard, new central tunnel, gearshift lever and centre console among others.
