Despite taking design inspiration from new generation Swift hatchback, the 2017 Maruti Suzuki Dzire looks distinctive and more conventional
On any discussion about the upcoming cars in India in 2017-18, there are two cars that certainly make headlines and create excitement. They are the third generation Maruti Suzuki Dzire compact sedan and the upcoming brand new Maruti Suzuki Swift hatchback. Both the cars belong to the biggest and most popular car brand in the country, and both of them share similar design language, features and powertrain options despite being positioned in different segments.
Speaking about the Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire, it has been enjoying the status of most successful and most popular sub-four metre compact sedan in the domestic market for quite long time. The car is rivalled by competitors like Honda Amaze, Hyundai Xcent, Ford Aspire and the latest entrant to the segment, the Volkswagen Ameo. Despite tough competition, the Swift Dzire has managed to stay on top of the segment.

The third generation model of the car borrows several design cues from its hatchback sibling, just like before. But the distinctiveness is also very much visible.
The new generation model of the compact sedan sheds the Swift badge from its name. Such is the case, it has been christened as the Maruti Suzuki Dzire now. On the other hand, the new generation Swift has already unveiled itself in front of the public and it looks very attractive compared its previous edition. The company could consider increasing the power and torque output along with improving the fuel efficiency as well. Considering both the cars sit in different segments, the new generation models will more likely take the game up in their respective segments and come as top ones, just like the current models.
With everything new on offer and competitive pricing along with the Maruti Suzuki brand name, both the cars are predictably going to retain their supremacy in the below Rs. 10 lakh price range. The Dzire promises to be equally sporty while being more spacious and feature-packed compared to the upcoming Swift.
