The Austrian bike-maker debuted the new KTM Duke 390 at the 2016 EICMA in Milan and it looked absolutely alien-ish. Carrying that momentum, the 2017 version of the sporty naked bike was launched in February 2017 in India in all its glory. It has a menacing appeal underlined by the design language of international standards.

The company has made quite strong impression in the Indian market with its performance oriented bikes by selling over 1,00,000 units so far and claims 80 percent market share in the premium segment with sales of 37,000 examples last fiscal. KTM offers some exciting products in the country and with localised production at Bajaj’s Chakan plant they come affordable and the MY2017 Duke 390 is no different to that philosophy.

The new Duke 390 was spied testing on Indian roads many times and as expected it comes with significant design updates and powertrain changes. Currently, customers are more and more opting toward exciting products rather just commuter models as new-age buyers are looking for aggressive and premium bikes and KTM stands as their priority option with its inspiring success in the market.

The all-new Duke 390 is expecting to repeat its predecessor’s feat of becoming the most popular affordable performance bike for under Rs. 2.5 lakh. It takes on some faired rivals along with Benelli TNT 302 and the upcoming BMW G310R as the naked streetfighter segment is getting fiercely competent than ever before. With such products in the fray, it is going to be a spectacular battle between these performance oriented bikes.
