2017 Hyundai Verna boasts a striking exterior with several added features on the revised cabin; retains 1.6 petrol and 1.6 diesel engine lineup
With the rise of Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and the mainstay Honda City over the years, Hyundai needed a new version of the Verna in order to reinvigorate the brand in the executive C-segment for sedans. Both Ciaz and City have been enduring majority of sales while Verna has to make do with less than one-fourth of their individual sales figures.
The new-gen Verna, which was launched in India on August 22, is being hoped to change the fortunes and it has an evolutionary approach to the Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design language. It has so far lived beyond its expectations as over 7,000 bookings were made in just over a week of its launch and August sales data shows 4,779 units were sold. Orders officially commenced since first week of August and deliveries of first 10,000 units are aimed to be carried out by Diwali. Almost six weeks in, the bookings have reportedly crossed an astonishing 15,000 mark.
The 2017 Hyundai Verna first broke cover at the 2016 Chengdu Motor Show in China last September and as predicted it stands in line with the design of conceptual version showcased at the Beijing Motor Show back in April 2016. The second highest selling automaker in India launched the fifth generation Verna with bookings noted for Rs. 25,000. According to Hyundai, the globally popular model has over 8.8 million customers in over 66 countries and 3.18 lakh units were sold in India.
The targetted customers are between 30 and 40 years of age like socially active, image conscious, nuclear family based, and tech savvy young entrepreneurs according to Hyundai. Here’s everything you should know about the 2017 Hyundai Verna that will revitalise the competition in the C-segment:

To better NVH levels engine and transmission mount’s design has been changed along with implementation of tunnel insulator, extensive application of foam filler in cavity, etc.
The all-new K2 platform enables precise tuning of key suspension components to suit Indian road conditions for enhanced cornering and high speed stability, superior ride comfort and precise handling performance.
