2017 Honda Activa 125 is BSIV compliant and features LED lamps, AHO tech and Combi Braking System alongside new metallic colour and mobile charging port
Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt Ltd (HMSI) has launched the 2017 Activa 125 as it becomes the first scooter to offer Automatic Head Lamp On (AHO) technology as well as complying with Bharat Stage-IV emission regulations. The bestselling scooter brand is reported to have over six lakh customers across the nation and to consolidate it’s market share the new Activa 125 boasts several cosmetic changes.
Honda has added a new variant that offers alloy wheels with drum brake and sits between existing two variants. Launched at a starting price of Rs. 56,954 (Ex-showroom, Delhi), it comprises of new LED position lights and chrome chest, the new Alloy variant and added convenience features. Endorsed as ‘Frontastic’ looks, the updated Activa 125 features new LED position lights integrated into the front chrome chest and a larger 3D Honda emblem for more attractive appeal.

As for additional convenience, the mobile charging socket assures uninterrupted phone functioning while the Retractable front hook avails extra storage. The telescopic suspension, longer and wider seat, bigger 12-inch rim at front, longer wheelbase, upright sitting posture and CLIC mechanism (Convenient Lift up Independent Cover) are some of other salient features.
It is the only 125 cc automatic scooter in India right now to be equipped with Combi Brake System (CBS) with Equalizer technology well ahead of the government mandate that comes into effect from April 2018. The Equalizer distributes braking force proportionately between front and rear wheels simultaneously by pressing just the left lever resulting in reduced braking distance and improved balance.

For improved visibility in all conditions and to meet the upcoming regulation, Automatic Headlamp On (AHO) feature has been standardised which checks the box for another first-in-class technology in the new 125 cc Activa. No changes have made powertrain wise except for it being tuned to stick by Bharat Stage-IV emission norms. It is also a class-first achievement Activa 125 can boast about.
The 125 cc Honda Eco Technology (HET) engine continues to produce a maximum power output of 8.52 bhp at 6,500 rpm and 10.54 Nm pf peak torque delivered at 5,000 rpm. It should have a claimed mileage of around 54 kmpl. With the inclusion of new Mat Crust Metallic paint scheme, the 2017 Activa 125 will be available in Pearl Amazing White, Midnight Blue Metallic, Black and Rebel Red Metallic colours. It will continue to compete against Suzuki Access 125, Mahindra Gusto 125, Vespa S and the likes.
