2017 Force Gurkha BS-IV Launched In India At Rs. 8.45 Lakh

The new Gurkha gets a retuned engine besides a host of cosmetic and styling updates

Force Motors has launched the BS-IV version of Gurkha for the Indian car market. To give more options to the customers, the rugged SUV has been launched in a total of three trims. Force Gurkha is now available at the company’s dealerships across India at a starting price of Rs. 8.45 lakh that reaches up till Rs. 11.48 lakh for the top end trim (both prices, ex-showroom, Delhi).

To be precise, Force Motors has launched the new Gurkha under two categories namely Xplorer and Xpedition. Out of these, the former is further available in two options viz 3-door and 5-door. On the other hand, the Xpedition is available with 5-door option only. While the Xplorer gets a 4×4 drive system, the Xpedition had to stay content with a 4×2 unit.

Digging further into the details of the variants, the Force Gurkha Xplorer gets an option of hard top and soft top along with 3-door and 5-door options, as already mentioned. With this, the vehicle can seat a maximum of five and seven people respectively. On the other hand, the Xpedition comes with 5 doors and can accommodate a total of nine people. The reason for this is that the Xplorer is a sub four metre model and has a length of 3,992 mm. On the parallel, the Xpedition is longer with a total length of 4,342 mm.

The biggest change in the new Gurkha is the inclusion of a new BS-IV engine. To meet the purpose, the older 2.6-litre diesel mill has been retuned and it now sheds out respective power and torque of 85 bhp and 230 Nm.

Besides these mechanical changes, the new Force Gurkha also receives some style updates. The SUV now comes with new steel bumpers for the front and rear. Besides, the vehicle is now stickered with new graphics to make it look even better and attractive. Other cosmetic updates include fatter tyres, new clear lens headlamp and a slip resistant floorboard.
