Next generation of Audi A5 Sportback has been spotted testing without camouflaged in Mumbai. The spyshot posted by Rushlane shows the black stylish car is getting tested on Navi Mumbai roads. Reports suggest Audi India imported a single unit of the next generation Audi A5 Sportback few days ago into the country. As it seems, the spotted undisguised Audi A5 Sportback is the same unit imported.
The 2017 Audi A5 Sportback is scheduled for its global debut in coming weeks, and it seems Audi is testing the car ahead of the final moment. The German luxury automaker has been testing its cars in the country for several years as part of their strategy. The variation of terrains and weather in the country helps the automaker’s Research and Develop team to gather important data related to the car’s behaviour according to the terrains and weathers. So, the next generation Audi A5 Sportback spotted testing in India doesn’t mean that the car will be launched in the country at all.
For the European market the car would debut a few weeks after the new A5 Coupe debut, which is scheduled on 2nd June, 2016 in Inglostadt, Germany. Both the A5 Coupe and the A5 Sportback shares the same MLB platform. The next generation Audi A5 variants would come feature laden with the new generation Matrix LED headlamps, LED taillights, Audi virtual cockpit with 12.3 inch LCD display, MMI infotainment system, Bang & Olufsen surround music system, plush leather upholstery etc. The power source for the next generation Audi A5 is yet to revealed, but the A5 Sportback spotted testing in India gets a 2.0 litre (1968 cc) turbocharged diesel engine, which churns out 190 PS of peak power and 400 Nm of peak torque. In the US market the same engine would be tuned to produce 256 PS of peak power and 370 Nm of peak torque.
The Audi A5 Sportback would lock horn with the new BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe. On the other hand, the Audi A5 Coupe will take on the Mercedes Benz C Class and the BMW 4 Series Coupe variants.
