Debut hints features to be shared on the New Fortuner and New Innova
The 2016 TOYOTA HILUX REVO which sets a new range of premium pick-up trucks was globally debuted at a launch event that took place in Thailand. The big boy was seen at a dealer stockyard by Thailand-based forum and Facebook page Hilux Revo Thailand, which released intriguing pictures of the pick-up truck revealing interior and exterior shots of a production-spec HiLux. Now, since the Hilux is released we know more confirmed news about the pick-up truck. The debut also proves Toyota will be sharing the features from the Hilux to the upcoming Fortuner and Innova.
Looking at the front fascia of the Hilux Revo, a new styled projector headlamps with LED DRL eyebrows joined with chrome grille with one slat intruding into the headlamps. At the rear you can see fog lamps with a neatly finished tail loader. The sides appear muscular with 17-inch alloys side steps and anti-pinch for the driver’s window.
A spacious cabin makes the pick-up truck more desirable which compliments with outside styling, inside includes 60:40-split back seats, auto air-con with rear vents, rear-seat Isofix, a 220-volt AC charger, cruise control and what looks like leather seats. You can also expect a futuristic interior like the Altis, on the pick-up truck.
Under hood of the big boy used are all new diesel engines, a 2.8 liter 1GD-FTV making 177 hp at 3,400 rpm and 450 Nm of torque and a 2.4 liter 2GD-FTV making 150 hp at 3,400 rpm and 400 Nm of torque, which we believe will replace the current 3.0 litre 1KD-FTV and 2.5 litre 2KD-FTV engines. Both the new engines are Euro 4-compliant and common-rail direct-injection with a stop/start system making the pick-up truck intelligent as well. There would be a 2.7-liter four-cylinder VVT-I petrol engine passed from the previous gen making 122 hp and 245 Nm of torque.
Making the pick-truck safe comprises a lot of features like seven airbags, traction control, VSC, ABS, EBD, BA, trailer sway control, hill start assist and downhill assist. Now, these features could be available on the top of the line models only. The Hilux uses the company’s new FIRM (Frame with Integrated Rigidity Mechanism) based platform which makes new Hilux a heavy weight champion.
