2016 Toyota Fortuner Indonesia-spec brochure leaked; one petrol and diesel engine on offer with 4×2 and 4×4 options
After making debut in Thailand midway through this year, the all-new Toyota Fortuner based on the Innovative International Multi-purpose Vehicle (IMV) platform that underpins Innova and Hilux Revo pickup truck is more likely to be introduced into the Indian market in the later parts of 2016.
With the new seven-seater SUV having already been unveiled and running on Australian roads, the leaked brochure of the Indonesia-spec model suggest a launch is impending on that particular market and we might see Toyota making strides to introduce the 2016 Fortuner soon than expected next year.
The dynamic new approach to exterior design will be capped off by the premium appeal to the interior besides a new line-up of engines. The low-resolution images of the leaked brochure explain the variants and specifications the Indonesian market will receive.
It will be offered in six variants, with four two-wheel drive variants and two four-wheel drive variants. The division in the variants are base G, middle SRZ and range-topping VRZ. The entry-level 2.7 SRZ AT is the only recipient of the 2.7-litre four-cylinder Dual VVTi petrol engine.
It churns out 122 PS of maximum power and 245 Nm of peak torque All other 2WD and 4WD variants and 4×4) of the new generation Fortuner SUV such as 2.4 VRZ AT, 2.4 G AT, 2.4 G MT, 2.4 VRZ 4×4 AT, 2.4 G 4×4 AT derives power from the 2.4-litre 2GD-FTV diesel unit that is tuned to develop 150 PS of power output and 400 Nm of torque.
The “MT” variants will have a six-speed manual gearbox with rev-matching technology whilst the variants designated as “AT” will have engines coupled with a six-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters. The 4×4 models have a set of options enabling the driver to choose between different off-road modes.
The Indian version of the 2016 Fortuner might as well come with a 2.8-litre mill producing 177 PS of power and 450 Nm of torque as the top-end diesel motor. On the outside, the Fortuner features LED headlights with Daytime Running Lights, 18-inch alloy wheels, turn indicators on ORVMs, shark fin alternate, powered back lift gate, fog lamps, rear spoiler and new alloy wheels.
Inside, eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system, new instrument cluster with large colour TFT LCD display, cabin lamps, rear automatic air- conditioning,three-spoke steering wheel, multi-adjustable electric driver seat, automatic climate control, cruise control and engine start/stop button.
It could measure about 4,795 mm in length(90 mm longer than existing model) but 1,855 mm in width and 1,835 mm in height with 2,750 mm in wheelbase as identical to the outgoing Fortuner. The safety features listed for the 2016 Toyota Fortuner in the brochure are seven airbags, ABS with EBD, Brake Assist, Stability Control, Hill Assist Control, Emergency Brake Signal and Active Traction Control among several others.
