2016 Skoda Superb diesel deliveries have begun after seven months of delay due to unavailability of assembly kits

Skoda India launched the new generation Superb executive premium sedan for the Indian market in February 2016. Initially the customers were supplied with the petrol engine only but after seven months of having to wait, the buyers have been granted with the deliveries of diesel versions in September reports TeamBHP.

The third generation Skoda Superb is being brought into India with the help of CKD route before put through assembly lines in the Aurangabad plant. As earlier reported, the Czech automaker said the unavailability of necessary assembly kits was the reason why the diesel models took this long to become ready for delivery.

As soon as this problem arouse, Skoda reportedly notified dealers to stop accepting pre-bookings for the diesel-powered Superb. The new Skoda Superb was launched with an ex-showroom price of Rs. 22.68 lakh for the base 1.8 TSI MT STYLE model and Rs. 29.36 lakh for the 2.0 TDI L&K top-end trim. The updated 1.8-litre TSI petrol motor produces a maximum power output of 180 PS between 5,100 and 6,200 rpm and peak torque of 320 Nm for the manual and 250 Nm for the top-end automatic grades.

The diesel engine punches out 177 PS between 3,600 and 4,000 rpm and has a peak torque of 350 Nm delivered between 1,500 and 3,500 rpm. The petrol mill comes connected with a fully-synchronized six-speed manual gearbox or a seven-speed DSG automatic with manual Tiptronic gear changing.

The gas-guzzler transmits power to all the four wheels through a six-speed DSG automatic with Tiptronic manual gear changing. In comparison to the outgoing model, the new Superb develops 20 PS more power for petrol and 37 PS more power for the diesel engine. It has a rated mileage of 14.67 kmpl for 1.8-litre TSI petrol automatic and 14.12 kmpl for the manual. The 2.0-litre diesel engine is claimed to give a fuel efficiency of 18.19 kmpl.

The new Škoda Superb is the brand’s first model to be made available with adaptive Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC) with Driving Mode Select. It features latest design language, spacious cabin, added equipment list and revised engine line-up for better driveability and fuel economy compared to the outgoing model.
