Mitsubishi 2016 Pajero Sport came to India later this year and will have the likes of Endeavor, Fortuner and Trailblazer in its crosshair
Mitsubishi has at last taken the covers off its all-new 2016 Pajero Sport. The medium size SUV accompanies the organization’s most recent Dynamic Shield front which we first saw on the latest Outlander and that front fascia grabs your attention as soon as you turn towards it.
Plainly, there is a lot of chrome at the front and the smooth headlamps add to the general look of the SUV. The slim segments of LED daytime running lights add a dash of futuristic look to the car and the fog lights are housed route down in the bumper. Mitsubishi seems to have gotten the aggressive stance and look of the butch SUV bang on as every bit of the vehicle has “rugged” written all over it.
As you move towards the side profile of the 2016 Pajero Sports, you’ll see that it continues looking slightly extended beyond the C-Pillar but that extension lets you accommodate a third row of seats. The rear of the profile had already been leaked and yes it is the same one as we’d seen in the spyshots. We wouldn’t exactly call the rear lamp cluster something that will pull eyeballs towards it. The rear heavily borrows design cues from the GR-HEV concept that we first saw back in 2013 at the Geneva Auto Show.
The interiors too are in sync with the spyshots and you get generous amounts of chrome, leather upholstery and a good infotainment network with steering controls. The all black dashboard looks quite premium too. The heart of the 2016 Pajero Sport is a 2.4-liter MIVEC turbodiesel motor which is mated to a 8-speed automatic gearbox, that was made particularly for the new 2016 Pajero Sport. The yield of the motor hasn’t been unveiled however it will be near to the 180-200 bhp mark in all probability with the torque output being around 420-440 Nm.
It may came to India later this year or early next year and will have the likes of Ford Endeavor, Toyota Fortuner and Chevrolet Trailblazer in its crosshair.
