Polaris India Pvt. Ltd, announced officially that the all-new 2016 Indian Springfield has gone on sale at a price tag of Rs. 31.07 lakh (ex-showroom, Gurugram). The cruiser was christened as Springfield because it’s the birthplace for the Indian motorcycle brand hailing from the United States of America. The motorcycle will be offered in two colour schemes: Thunder Black and Indian Motorcycle Red.

The bookings for the new Springfield had begun earlier this year and is designed to blend characteristics of the Chief Vintage and Chieftain for the touring obsessed rider. Featuring classic design, the seventh Indian offering for the domestic market has been brimmed with modern technologies as well. It is powered by a Thunder Stroke, fuel-injected, 49 degree V-twin 1,811 cc engine with undersquare cylinders that can pump out a massive torque of 139 Nm at 2,600 rpm.

It is the same engine that does duty in the Chief Vintage, Chieftan and the Roadmaster and has 101 mm x 113 mm bore-stroke. The fuel metering incorporates ride-by-wire technology. The cruiser motorcycle boasts touring-oriented steering geometry for better handling and is said to give a perfect compromise between touring comfort and urban versatility for new generation of riders.

Despite the Springfield has external appearance as similar to the Chief Vintage, the chassis is an all-new, capable of carrying higher loads than before. It can carry a total weight of 242 kilos which include rider, pillion and the luggage.

The Springfield comes featured with in-dash informational displays controlled from the switch pods, dual channel ABS (Anti-lock Braking System), electronic cruise control, TPMS (Tyre Pressure Monitoring System), powerful headlamp, front and rear highway bars, adjustable passenger floorboards and remote locking as standard.

The optional accessory list includes heated driver and passenger seats, 64.3 litres accessory trunk, heated grips, lower windshield, etc. It also possesses an air-adjustable rear shock and 46 mm telescopic cartridge forks. The saddlebags and quick-release windshield can be removed without the need of any tool.
