Hyundai launched the i20 in India in last decade. The car became popular in very short time. Later when the South Korean automaker launched the second generation of i20, it came christened as Elite i20.

The premium hatchback immediately grabbed attention for its stylish design, upmarket features and sporty performance. The car is suitable for both the mundane city drives and for weekend long drives. Earlier this year Hyundai introduced a new Elite i20 with minor changes inside out.

Hyundai Elite i20 Price and Variants

Hyundai Elite i20 is available in both the petrol and diesel variants. The premium hatchback gets dual engine options and a single transmission. The petrol variant Elite i20 is priced between Rs. 5.60 lakh to Rs. 9.02 lakh, while the diesel variant comes available at a pricing range of Rs. 6.80 lakh to Rs. 9 lakh. Hyundai Elite i20 Engine and Specifications

Hyundai Elite i20 comes in both petrol and diesel variants. Both the segments get one single engine option. The petrol variant of Elite i20 is powered by a 1197cc displacing 1.2-litre four-cylinder dual VTVT Kappa series petrol engine mated to a 5-speed manual transmission which churns out 83 PS of peak power at 6000 RPM and 115 NM of peak torque at 4000 RPM. Recently Hyundai has introduced a 1.4-litre Kappa petrol engine, which is mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission. This engine kicks out 100 PS of peak power at 6,000 RPM and 132 NM of peak torque at 4,000 RPM.

On the other hand the diesel variant of the model is powered by a 1396cc displacing 1.4-litre four cylinder turbocharged CRDi engine under the hood, which is paired with a 6 speed manual transmission. This powertrain generates 90 PS of peak power at 4000 RPM and 220 NM of peak torque at 1500 RPM. On the suspension front the car is equipped with a McPherson strut with coil spring at the front while the rear is fitted with torsion beam axle with coil spring. The braking duty is done by discs at front, while the rear wheels get drum brake.

The petrol variant of Hyundai Elite i20 delivers 18.6 kmpl of fuel economy, while the diesel variant offers impressive 22.54 kmpl.

Hyundai Elite i20 Dimension & Exterior

Dimensionally Hyundai Elite i20 comes with 3985 mm of length, 1734 mm of width, 1505 mm of height and 2570 mm of wheelbase. The ground clearance stands at 170 mm. The car features 285 litres of boot space and 45 litre of fuel tank capacity.

Hyundai Elite i20 has been designed inspired by the South Korean automaker’s Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design language. The front fascia bears some subtle similarity with the Hyundai Grand i10 and Hyundai Xcent. At the front the car sports a sleek and aggressive grille with chrome lining and diamond pattern design.

The headlamp clusters look very sharp and sport projector headlamps with integrated LED daytime running lights. Above the radiator grille there is a sleek strip joining both the headlamp clusters. The strip holds the Hyundai logo at the centre. The V shaped hood meets perfectly with the nose section. The lower front fascia features a wide air intake which is highlighted by the sleek fog lamps at both ends.

At the side profile, the car bears a stylish appearance, with the floating roof, blackened glass area and thick C pillar. The side profile also boasts sharp crease running through the doors below the waistline. The sporty alloy wheels, black side cladding enhances the appeal. At the rear the wrap around sharp taillights, roof spoiler with high mounted stop lamps and muscular design makes the car visibly appealing.

Being a premium hatchback Hyundai Elite i20 features an upmarket look inside the cabin. Up front the cabin, the car gets a multifunction steering wheel, dual analog dial and a TFT display consisting stylish instrument cluster, 2 DIN integrated music system with CD, USB, AUX Bluetooth connectivity and 1 GB memory, 7 inch touchscreen infotainment system.

The touchscreen infotainment system and multifunction steering wheel are not available in lower end trims albeit. The interior also features cooled glove box, automatic climate control, power adjustable wing mirrors, rear view camera, engine start and stop push button. Despite being a sub-4 metre hatchback the car offers sufficient space for the occupants which ensures comfortable journey.

Hyundai Elite i20 Era:

Hyundai Elite i20 Era comes with halogen headlamp as standard, blackened chrome grille, but no chrome garnishing at exterior. Inside the cabin the car comes with power windows, manual air conditioning. On the safety front the Era trim comes with dual front airbags, central lock, engine immobilizer, seat belt pretensioner from both driver and front passenger.

Hyundai Elite i20 Magna:

Hyundai Elite i20 Magna comes with chrome garnished front grille, blackened glass area. Inside the cabin the trim sports rear parcel tray, sunglass holder, front centre console armrest with storage compartment, 2 DIN integrated music system with USB and AUX connectivity, 1 GB internal memory, multifunction steering wheel, cooled glove box, rear AC vent, electrically adjustable wing mirrors. Over the standard safety features of Era trim the Magna comes with additional features like headlamp escort function and keyless entry.

Hyundai Elite i20 Sportz:

The Hyundai Elite i20 Sportz trim comes with black waistline moulding, integrated turn indicators in the wing mirrors. Inside the cabin the car sports height adjustable driver seat, tilt adjustable steering wheel, fully automatic air conditioning and all the standard features of the Magna trim. On the safety front the car features ABS, reverse parking sensor and camera, impact sensing auto door unlock, rear defogger with timer.

Hyundai Elite i20 Asta:

Hyundai Elite i20 Asta trim comes with all the standard features of the Sportz trim, and additionally chrome embellished door handles, diamond cut alloy wheels, leather wrapped gear lever, steering position reminder, parking sensor display, push start and stop button, rear wiper and washer, boot space lamp. On the safety front the trim comes with automatic headlamps, clutch lock and smart key.

Hyundai Elite i20 Asta (O):

The top end trim of Hyundai Elite i20 is the Asta (O) which comes with all the standard features of the Asta trim. Additionally, the Asta (O) trim sports projector headlamps, cornering lights, LED daytime running lights. Inside the cabin it comes with 60:40 split rear seats, touchscreen infotainment system. As safety features the top end trim receives all the safety features of the Asta trim, and AVN as additional.
