Mechanically, the 2016 Hyundai Elantra is available with three engine options. A 1.6-liter GDi produces 132 PS and 164 Nm of torque, a 2.0-liter MPi makes 149 PS and 183 Nm, Meanwhile a 1.6-liter VGT diesel is now good for 136 PS and 306 Nm of torque. Transmission choices include a six-speed manual, six-speed automatic and a seven-speed DCT (dual-clutch transmission). Dual clutch comes with the diesel engine only. Driving dynamics should also be more impressive as all Hyundai cars chassis is being tuned at infamous German racetrack, the Ring!
We expect all these engines except the 2.0 litre petrol, to come to India in exactly same engine tune to finally give tough time to the competition, when it comes to performance, as that is the only thing old Hyundai Elantra lacks. The new Elantra is expected to come to India in late 2016 or early 2017.
