World premiere of the India bound 2016 Hyundai Elantra just happened in South Korea
2016 Hyundai Elantra features a more solid and sporty design without loosing its Korean roots. 2016 Hyundai Elantra is a very important model for the brand as it sells it through out the globe as the entry-level sedan in countries like USA and Europe. It is 20 mm longer and 25 mm wider than its predecessor and has 53% usage of Advanced High Strength Steel over the previous version which should make the car safer and stiffer than before.
Interiors witness a massive change with the 2016 Hyundai Elantra as it comes with a host of safety features which include Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), High Beam Assist (HBA), Blind Spot Detection (BSD) and Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA). Harman sound system with German layout of the dashboard which has helped them angle the cockpit 6.9 degrees towards the driver. NVH level are taken car better thanks to thicker glass, better wipers and materials used in the wheel wells.
Mechanically, the 2016 Hyundai Elantra is available with three engine options. A 1.6-liter GDi produces 132 PS and 164 Nm of torque, a 2.0-liter MPi makes 149 PS and 183 Nm, Meanwhile a 1.6-liter VGT diesel is now good for 136 PS and 306 Nm of torque. Transmission choices include a six-speed manual, six-speed automatic and a seven-speed DCT (dual-clutch transmission). Dual clutch comes with the diesel engine only. Driving dynamics should also be more impressive as all Hyundai cars chassis is being tuned at infamous German racetrack, the Ring!
We expect all these engines except the 2.0 litre petrol, to come to India in exactly same engine tune to finally give tough time to the competition, when it comes to performance, as that is the only thing old Hyundai Elantra lacks. The new Elantra is expected to come to India in late 2016 or early 2017.
