2016 Hero Achiever iSmart makes 13.4 BHP, comes with AHO headlamps & iSmart start-stop technology with BS4 compliant engine

In the already crowded commuter space, where Hero has a significant presence, new launches will only catapult the sales figures as more people will elect to buy vehicles during the festive period. Besides the now-launched Achiever 150, the other two motorcycles Hero has in mind are the new Super Splendor and the Passion Pro equipped with iSmart idling start/stop technology as we have been reporting for the last few weeks.

It works in a way by enabling the motorcycle’s engine to shut down automatically when the motorcycle is in idle mode. The engine can be switched on with the pressing of the clutch instantly. The Achiever is expected to give Hero a big hand in terms of sales in the 150cc commuter segment with its fresh looks and underpinnings. 2016 Hero Achiever iSmart India Launch and Price

Hero MotoCorp has launched the all-new Achiever 150 motorcycle for the Indian market today. Comes with a starting price of Rs. 61,800 (ex-showroom Delhi, price) for the drum variant and Rs. 62,800 (ex-showroom Delhi, price) for the disc variant, the Achiever is one of the three models the leading two-wheeler manufacturer has planned to launch during this festive season.

2016 Hero Achiever iSmart Engine and Specifications

The biggest talking point in the new Achiever is its TOD engine which is newly developed by Hero MotoCorp. The single-cylinder air-cooled four-stroke OHC petrol engine will be replacing the 149.2 cc engine – derived from Honda earlier – featured in the outgoing Achiever which produced 13.4 bhp at 8,000 rpm and 12.8 Nm of peak torque delivered at 5,000 rpm.

It was mated to a five-speed constant mesh transmission. The same power and torque configuration has been applied for the new engine which helps doing 0-60 kmph in a claimed five seconds. Moreover, the new engine has been equipped with iSmart start/stop technology for fuel saving and improved mileage with reduced emissions.

The new Achiever measures 2,060 mm in length, 762 mm in width, 1,086 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 1,290 mm. The ground clearance stands at 160 mm while the kerb weight is at 139 kilograms. It features a fuel tank capacity of 13 litres with 1.8-litre reserve. The 150cc commuter rides of 80/100-18 47P tubeless front tyres and 80/100-18 54P tubeless rear rubber.

2016 Hero Achiever iSmart Exterior and Colours

Built on tubular diamond type chassis, the 2016 Achiever iSmart has telescopic hydraulic shock absorber at front and swing arm with adjustable shock absorber at the rear. It has a smooth flowing design and doesn’t shy away from resembling its predecessor.

In addition to the larger fuel tank, new seat profile and texture, the new Achiever features new headlights and winkers, large visor, bulged out fender and cowl with new graphics. The fuel tank has flush type lid while rear fairing, tail light, RR grip and muffler enhance the overall appearance.

Some of the important features made available are new exterior design tubeless tyres, analog digital speedo with side stand indicator, maintenance free battery and viscous air cleaner element. Hero says the Achiever is for the executive commuters rather than speed-seeking customers.

Just like the recently launched Splendor iSmart 110, the Achiever 150 will have the AHO (Auto Headlamp On) feature as standard for improved safety and to comply with upcoming regulations. To mark 70th million two wheelers, Hero has introduced a tri-colour special edition whose production will be limited to 70 units.

The three colour options for the new Achiever are Panther Black Metallic, Candy Blazing Red and Ebony Grey Metallic. Following the 2017 Dakar Rally, where Hero will be competing with its factory team, a global product will be launched in Buenos Aires.

The 2016 Hero Achiever, which is the fourth all-new product following Maestro Edge, Duet and Splendor iSmart 110 will compete against the likes of Honda CB Unicorn 150 and Bajaj V15 in the tightly contested domestic market.
