Hyundai Genesis Brand Showcased in India at 2016 Delhi Auto Expo, No India launch in planning

G90 is the first sedan from the newly established Genesis luxury brand by the South Korean auto maker to rival against the German trio’s dominance in the luxury market with Mercedes S Class, Audi A8 and BMW 7 Series. Hyundai’s been selling Genesis-branded models for a while but it announced the G90 will join the stand-alone luxury brand as its flagship model.

It has been launched at the Auto Expo 2016 but it doesn’t mean the brand will enter Indian market as part of its expansion. Instead, the brand will help shrug off the value-for-money feel of the biggest exporter of cars in the country and put it in a premium position at least at the ongoing motor show.

The G90 luxury sedan arrives in two different forms: the top-of-the-line model is a direct-injected 5.0-liter V8 which is good enough to churn out 420 horsepower whilst the base end gets powered by a twin-turbo 3.3-liter V6. They will have rear-wheel drive system as standard but will have all-wheel drive options.

To maximize the luxury look and feel, Genesis has made available an adaptive multi-link suspension for the G90 along with loads of amenities like power and massage seats and speakers at the back. The full-size sedan has a longer bonnet strucutre and a drivers seat that is installed midway through the car provoking even the Chrysler 300M and BMW’s luxury sedans.

Genesis has plans to launch six different cars by 2020 and of which the G80 will be a slightly smaller executive sedan whilst the G70 will be a sports sedan based on one of those models most likely by sharing same design launguage with plentiful techs involved.
