BMW Motorrad S1000XR is the adventure tourer motorcycle based on the award-winning and highly potent S1000RR with revised suspension, chassis and ergonomics

BMW Motorrad is making a grand entry into the segment of premium and high-end motorcycle with this years Auto Expo. The brand is finally here in India officially after tieing up with TVS motors for jointly developing motorcycles under the 500cc category. The deal was done primarily because of TVS quality focus which the German brand also shares and also because they expertise in making sporty and quarter litre motorcycles.

Today, the German manufacturer enters with its highly praised top-end range of motorcycles. The recently launched and highly anticipated S1000XR. The motorcycle is an adventure tourer with the characteristics of a sports bike underneath as the platform is being shared with the S1000RR. The design idea at the front is also taken from the super sport variant and it has the quirky twin headlight placed which are devoid of projector or LED’s. There is always the beak in the front cowl along with second mudguard below to show what the motorcycle is capable of.

The 999 cc in-line four-cylinder engine makes 160 BHP and 112 Nm of torque. The motor is mated to a six-speed gearbox. The chassis is also taken from the S1000RR model. The swingarm is extended on the S1000XR for stability as a longer wheelbase of 1,549 mm is extended by almost 100 mm. The S 1000 XR comes with two selectable driving modes as standard which are Rain and Road.

These modes allow riders to adapt optimally to given riding conditions. ABS and ASC (Automatic Stability Control) are standard too with the motorcycle. Pay a little more and you get Dynamic and Touring modes which makes thing sportier as the suspension and motor get more responsive in every way possible to make thing tighter.
