Aprilia SR Motard 150 Scooter creates its own segment in the market today as it is a power scooter with off-roading ability
Aprilia as a brand in India is primarily known for superbikes. It has given the superb Caponard 1200, the RSV4, the Tuono and many more. The parent company Piaggio has been responsible for getting the brand into India and selling its product through dedicated showrooms at first and later through a Multiplex showroom which houses all the brand that Piaggio has in its kity. Now Piaggio and Aprilia have decided to finally getting and wildly spoken about Aprilia scooter into the market.
It has been long suggested that the Italian performance super bike brand would some day go down the displacement category and get either a 125/150cc super sport bike or something like that they have shown today.
The Aprilia SR 150 Motard is a scooter which does pretty much everything that a scooter does and even does off-roading too surprisingly. THe Aprilia SR 150 Motard scooter is powered by a 150cc engine making 9.5 BHP of power and 8.2 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a CVT gearbox.
Suspension wise the front has a long travel forks and rear has a monoshock. The brakes at the front are 220 mm disc brake while the rear is a usual 140mm drum. The weight of the scooter is around 130 kg mark. Tyres are 120×70 at the front and the rear too. These tyres are slapped onto the 14-inch wheels.
The specification says it clears Euro 3 emissions as well. The scooter doesn’t have any direction competition in the market today but the same displacement Vespa retro cute scooters are available. Prices should be around the 90,000 mark and it should find a limited amount of buyers who appreciate something totally out of the box or need a scooter to go mad over unpaved roads.
