2016 CBR 150R Indonesia launch shows us how the new CBR is truly revolutionary in every way possible and this should come to India with a catchy price tag
Honda is finally taking sports motorcycles in the range seriously. After upgrading them one after the other right from the RC213V to this new CBR 150R and others in the pipeline, the company is set to take back the market share it had with the CBR series. This has started with the CBR150R.
The motorcycle is finally here in an all-new avatar. The styling has been, as seen in spy shots over the past, taken from the CBR 500R that was recently refreshed. The 2016 CBR 150R is sharper, sleeker, sportier and cosmetically and mechanically all new.
First things first as this new CBR 150R gets a new set of switchgear which it deserves. However, engine kill switch is still missing, despite the fact, the switches have been plugged from the CBR250R. The 2016 CBR 150R has all new diamond frame which has been replaced by the perimeter frame is far more superior on paper and when it comes to offering a forgiving and tuneable chassis. Honda says it has worked hard on the chassis to remove unsprung weight, means tubes in the chassis. In short, weight and connection to the steering and swingarm have been reduced.
2016 Honda CBR150R is powered by the same 150 cc motor which powers the existing CBR 150R but is refined and made slightly more powerful and torquey throughout the rev range. The fuel injected, 4-valve, DOHC, engine now makes 17.1 bhp and 13.7 Nm of torque and power is going through the same 6-speed manual transmission.
The sprocket at the rear has been increased, which is taken from the facelifted CBR 150R that was showcased some time back in Indonesia, to keep the sales going along with new colors. India launch is surely on the cards and we think, 2016 Diwali or early 2017 is the date we could finally see a reveal.
