2016 Bajaj Avenger could share the underpinnings of CS400 and will be an all new product, is CS200 is the New Avenger?
Well, it’s confirmed now that the 2016 Bajaj Avenger is finally on its way to launch before the financial year ends. Bajaj has gone all aggressive with its motorcycle portfolio for the year 2015-16 and will launch many products in the commuter and niche segment. Sure, the 400 remains and its launch will be happen within the next two months, but after that all new products will make way to the market.

The new 2016 Bajaj Avenger is likely to get the engine from the NS200. The engine will be tweaked even more to suit the cruiser character. The focus will be low and mid range power and flywheels and crank will be made heavier to provide so. Power will be around 25 BHP mark torque will be around 20 Nm mark. The 2016 Bajaj Avenger will be on the heavier side (165kg) as it will get fatter tyres and new chassis.
Coming back to what we think. Bajaj has always said that the perimeter frame platform allows them to do many things with it. This hints towards to an all new Avenger with new chassis, suspension and much more. Testing hasn’t commenced because no spy shots have emerged as of now. May be because the core mechanicals were tested with the SS and AS motorcycle?
There were rumors almost month back by folks in the industry that the CS200 is on its way. Meanwhile the news of new Avenger was circulating too. However, people couldn’t do the simple math that the new Avenger could be the CS200 in the making. Bajaj hinting towards its new flexible perimeter frame platform and showcasing of the CS400 at the Auto Expo makes things very simple to add up. After all CS stands for Cruiser Sports. Later on, the CS400 will also makes it way and will provide enthusiast with whatever they desire.
This new Cruiser Sports category is all about touring with losing the sporty character of the bike. No more extreme rake and trail at the front and super long wheelbase and heavy weight and very little power. However, we are not entirely sure about the strategy by Bajaj but it seems very likely that it could happen. We reserve our words as we don’t want to be caught in the crossfire.
