After long awaiting, it seems the wait is over for all the Tata Safari lovers as the company is going to launch the Tata Safari Storme Facelift anytime soon. Motorbeam manage to get hold of its product guide, which clarifies the exact details of the upcoming off-roader.
Well, it will not be correct to call it all-new Tata Safari Storme Facelift model as there are only minor changes done. The power of the vehicle has been increased by around 10 PS while its torque output remains the same. Going ahead, the company hasn’t equipped the Tata Safari Storme facelift with any 6-speed transmission or automatic gearbox. In fact, the basic features seen on the cheaper Bolt and Zest model from the lineup, like that of climate control AC, multi-information display system, touchscreen audio system have also been omitted in the Safari Storme facelift model.
The changes are in the form of a new honeycomb grille, air dam, and ‘Varicor400’ badge along its fenders highlighting the torque output of the 2.2-litre diesel mill.
Going inside the cabin, the upcoming Safari Storme facelift will get the new 3-spoke steering wheel similar to that of Bolt and Zest, integrated controls steering wheel and new music system (Harman sourced unit). Its center console also gets a silver chrome finish and comes with a 2-DIN music system with USB/CD/MP3/Radio/AUX and iPod connectivity system.
Mechanically, Tata Safari Storme facelift will get the power from the 2.2-litre 4-cylinder unit, which will now produce 160 PS of power and 400 NM of torque, which is approximately 20 PS, and 80 NM, more than the current model. Without any change, a 5-speed manual gearbox will channelize the power to its wheels.
One thing to be noted is that Tata Motors are going overboard to promote this SUV before its launch. A 3-week print campaign in leading newspapers is planned along with 1800 spot radio campaign during the next month to tap all during the IPL fever. Without leaving the very strong social media platform, the company is building exciting contest to run on that platform. So much so, the Tata Motors is going ahead to target even the existing Safari customers and will launch the ‘Safari Upgrade Program’ to target its 1.21 Safari existing owners. With this program, they will promote the corporate campaign and finance schemes for people to avail and boost its sales number.
While the company is going to launch this upcoming SUV anytime during the coming weeks, once launched, it is going to carry a price tag ranging between INR 10-14 lakhs (Ex-showroom) and is going to rival strongly against Mahindra Scorpio and Renault Duster.
