Ducati XDiavel and XDiavel S are more comfortable cruisers from the company as they offer the new DVT engine and offer flat torque curve with better ergonomics
Ducati has gone ahead and showcased nine new products just before the night of the EICMA show begins. Obviously it is tough to showcase all these bikes at a short time of the press conference, which manufacturers get at the Expo shows. A special night just before EICMA has seen two major and important bikes out of the nine to come out in the flesh.
Ducati XDiavel and XDiavel S are two new models which are more comfortable for both rider and pillion along with a host of upgrades two variant options to choose from. The highlight is the more long swooping design of the motorcycle. Ducati is finally calling this new XDiavel a cruiser while the normal Cruiser was forcing us not to call it a cruiser. This clearly marks the change that Ducati wants the customer to understand.
Ducati XDiavel and XDiavel S will also come host of ergonomic changes, infact 60 options to choose from in terms of seat height, foot peg position and handlebar positioning and much more in various ways can be done. Engine wise Ducati has thrown in all new engine that will come DVT. Variable Valve timing from Ducati is finally making its way to all new motorcycles.
The Ducati Testastretta DVT (Desmodromic Variable Timing), L-Twin, 4 Desmodromically actuated valves per cylinder, Dual-spark, Liquid-cooled engine makes 156 BHP and 128 Nm of torque from its 1262cc engine. Meanwhile, The normal Diavel makes 162 BHP and 130 Nm of torque from a 1198 cc engine. Ducati says the new 1262cc engine makes more power throughout the rev range and has flat torque from 5000 RPM to 10,000 RPM while providing good low-end torque. Power is being transferred through a 6-speed gearbox.
Chassis wise both bikes get 50mm USD front forks. Meanwhile the Ducati XDiavel S gets DLC coating on front suspension. Rear suspension has a single shock absorber, which is adjustable preload and rebound, has a remote reservoir. A single sided cast/trellis frame swingarm is present on both bikes, however Ducati XDiavel S has it natural anodized and swingarm is brushed with it.
Both variants have a same kerb weight of 247 kgs. Ducati says forward lean and 41 degree of lean has been achieved with this new Ducati XDiavel and XDiavel S. Normally cruisers have 40 degree of lean angle.
Features wise on the Ducati XDiavel you get Riding modes, Ducati Safety Pack (Bosch cornering ABS + DTC), DPL (Ducati Power Launch), RbW, Cruise control, Hands-free, Full-led lighting with DRL*, Backlit handlebar switches, Meanwhile, the XDiavel S gets Bluetooth module, Infotainment system, Glossy black engine with machined belt covers, Premium seat, Machined aluminium mirrors. Ducati will cash on these new cruisers as it will appeal more enthusiasts and riders as it offers more comfort and more goodies.
