More than 2 lakh units in 32 months of Fourth generation Honda City sold in India

Honda City becomes the fastest selling mid-size sedan in India with more than 2 lakh units sold in just 32 months. The fourth generation model was introduced back in January, 2014; and since then the car has sold a total of 200,098 units by the end of last month. Honda Car India also says, the car has sold more than 6.3 lakh units cumulatively.

The Honda City was first introduced in January 1998, and since then the stylish and premium looking car has become the most popular mid-size sedan of India. It has been one of the most important cars from the auto major, and the company is readying a facelift version soon in the country. The Japanese auto manufacturer is expected to launch the facelifted City sometime later this year during festive season.

In terms of quality the car has been ranked as the number one car in the JD Power Initial Quality Study for the 14th time in its presence in the country. The upcoming model is expected to get a bolder front grille, and revised headlamps and front bumper. Apart from that the car would don C shaped taillights at the redesigned rear profile.

The interior too is supposed to come revised with a 15.7 cm touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, premium audio system, paddle shifter, cruise control, electric sunroof etc. So far, the car is expected to get a more premium appearance compared to the outgoing model.

The powertrain for the outgoing model include i-VTEC petrol engine and i-DTEC diesel engine options. Transmission options include both manual and CVT gearboxes. The new generation of Honda CVT technology comes with refined fuel efficiency compared to manual transmission. The car offers several safety features like SRS airbags, ABS, EBD and also the Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) body shell, which ensures better safety for the occupants.
