10 Upcoming Cars Launching For Below Rs. 10 Lakh In India

The Indian market will see a slew of new car launches below the Rs. 10 lakh budget segment. Exter, New-Gen Swift, Nexon Facelift, Punch CNG and more

The under Rs. 10 lakh price segment is one of the busiest spaces in the domestic car market. A budget price point that suits new as well as existing car buyers is one of the key reasons that lead to high sales volumes. Banking on this, car manufacturers are actively introducing new cars along with updating the existing models. So, let’s have a look at the upcoming cars launching below Rs. 10 lakh in India.

1. Hyundai Exter

Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) recently revealed the rear profile of the upcoming Exter SUV, thus letting out all the details about its design. Ahead of its launch in the market which is scheduled for July 10, the bookings of the micro SUV are already underway for a token amount of Rs. 11,000. The four-wheeler will be available in a total of 5 trims, namely, EX, S, SX, SX(O) and SX(O) Connect.

Based on the same platform as the Grand i10 Nios, it will be powered by the 1.2 litre Kappa engine, which will get both petrol and CNG fuel options. The power output and transmission options will be similar to what we get in the Grand i10 Nios and Aura. A direct rival to the Tata Punch and Citroen C3, the Exter will likely come at a starting price of around Rs. 6 lakh (ex-showroom).

2. Tata Nexon Facelift

The Nexon Facelift is set to arrive around August 2023 and its starting price will be around Rs. 8 lakh (ex-showroom), while the top-end trims will go well over Rs. 10 lakh price point. This will be the second facelift model for the Nexon SUV which was first launched in the year 2017. In terms of changes, the updated model will sport a drastic change to its design and it will be in line with the Curvv ICE concept showcased at the 2023 Auto Expo.

Inside the cabin, it will get a completely new layout coupled with the latest 10.25-inch infotainment system, a fully digital instrument cluster and 2 spoke steering wheel. In addition to this, we also expect the new 1.2-litre tGDi petrol engine with the updated SUV which will produce 125 bhp and 225 Nm of peak torque.

3. Maruti Suzuki New-Gen Swift and Dzire

One of the best-selling products under the Rs. 10 lakh price bracket, Swift and its sedan sibling Dzire will soon get a new generation model. Market launch slated around mid-2024, the duo will sport a host of changes to the exterior design and interiors coupled with a slew of new feature additions. The highlight will be the new 1.2-litre strong hybrid petrol engine, with a claimed fuel efficiency of over 35 kmpl. In addition to this, the current petrol and CNG options will be retained as it is.

5. Tata Punch CNG

Tata Motors recently launched the Altroz CNG in the Indian market. It will be followed by the launch of Punch CNG in the coming months. The four-wheeler will feature the latest dual-cylinder technology, featuring two tanks of 30 litres each placed under the boot floor, thus leveraging plenty of storage space in the boot. The car will be powered by the 1.2 litre 3-cylinder petrol engine, producing 77 bhp and 97 Nm of peak torque, mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.

6. Toyota’s Maruti Suzuki Fronx-Based Coupe SUV

The Maruti Suzuki-Toyota JV will soon yield a new product in the form of the Fronx-based coupe SUV. Sporting the same set of underpinning as well as powertrain, the crossover will get major design alternation, in order to differentiate it from the Fronx. The Toyota crossover could get styling on the lines of the international-spec Yaris Cross. As the Fronx is already launched, we can expect the Toyota counterpart to debut in the second half of 2023. Expected to be named ‘Taisor’, the Coupe SUV’s pricing will be familiar to the Fronx.

7. Kia Sonet Facelift

The Sonet Facelift was recently spotted testing on foreign soil and we can expect its India debut by early 2024. Although the prototype was heavily camouflaged, a lot of cosmetic changes have been confirmed such as new headlamps, a new front grille, fog lamp housing and more. Talking about features, the Sonet will continue to be a tech-loaded offering in the segment and we can expect some new features in the updated model. The powertrain will remain unchanged and it will continue to be powered by a 1.2-litre NA petrol, 1.5-litre CRDi diesel and a 1.0-litre tGDi petrol engine.

8. 2024 New-Gen Honda Amaze

Honda’s popular compact sedan will soon get a new generation model. Slated for a launch in the year 2024, the four-wheeler will be based on the updated version of the existing PF2 platform. Under the hood, the familiar 1.2-litre i-VTEC engine putting out 90 bhp and 110 Nm of peak torque will be a part of the package. The design language will be in line with the brand’s latest offerings, i.e. the latest City and Accord sold in international markets. The 2024 New-Gen Amaze will also get ADAS.

9. Mahindra XUV300 Facelift

The test mule of the Mahindra XUV300 facelift was recently spied for the very first time and it will debut in 2024. Codenamed S220, the updated model will get a slew of changes inside out including the design, however, mechanically, the SUV will remain the same. In addition to this, the XUV300 facelift is also expected to get new features like an updated infotainment system with connected car tech, digital instrument cluster, ventilated seats, wireless charger and more.

10. Toyota Rumion (Maruti Suzuki Ertiga Based MPV)

The Ertiga-based MPV which will likely be called Rumion is the next badge-engineered vehicle under the Maruti-Toyota JV. Sporting enough changes to the external design and minor tweaks to the interior upholstery, the powertrain options will remain the same as the Ertiga and CNG will also be offered as an option. If everything goes right, it will debut in India by the second half of 2023.
