The 2024 calendar year will witness new SUV launches from brands like Hyundai, Tata, Mahindra, Toyota and Kia as they look to increase their market share taking advantage of the popularity of the SUV segment. Here we have explained about the 10+ highly anticipated SUVs:
1. Hyundai Creta Facelift:
In early 2024, Hyundai will launch the much-awaited facelifted Creta and it will boast an array of exterior and interior changes. It will be powered by a new 1.5L turbo petrol engine producing 160 PS and 253 Nm. It will gain plenty of new features including Level 2 ADAS.
2. Kia Sonet Facelift:
Caught testing multiple times, the facelifted Kia Sonet will also hit the market in early 2024. It will be thoroughly overhauled visually and the cabin will feature several new technologies and equipment onboard. However, the existing powertrain options will be carried over.
3. Tata Curvv:
Tata will introduce the electric version of the Curvv with more than 500 km claimed range first and it will be followed by the ICE Curvv equipped with a 1.5L turbo DI petrol engine. It will compete directly against midsize SUVs such as Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.
4. 5-Door Mahindra Thar:
The 5-door Mahindra Thar will have bigger dimensions than the existing model and is based on the same ladder frame platform as the Scorpio N. It will accommodate more passengers on the inside and will be more practical too without deterring its off-road capabilities. It will use the familiar 2.2L diesel and 2.0L petrol engines with MT and AT choices.
5. Mahindra XUV300 Facelift:
The Mahindra XUV300 is also bound for the first half of next year and it takes an evolutionary approach to design drawing inspiration from the upcoming BE range as well as the XUV700. The most welcoming addition will be the new interior as it will feature a larger touchscreen infotainment system, a new digital cluster and much more while the existing engine options will be retained.
6. Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor:
The rebadged Maruti Suzuki Fronx will get minor cosmetic changes and it will be powered by the 1.2L NA petrol and 1.0L turbo petrol engines. The Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor will be slotted above the Glanza and below the Rumion in the brand’s domestic portfolio and it will go on sale in the early months of 2024.
7. Hyundai Alcazar Facelift:
Also spied testing on public roads, the updated Hyundai Alcazar is just around the corner and we can expect it to get changes akin to the upcoming 2024 Creta. However, it will have notable differences to set itself apart as a more premium model. It will be equipped with Level 2 ADAS-based driver-assistive and safety tech too.
8. Nissan X-Trail:
The seven-seater Fortuner rival will be launched in India next year and it will be offered with either a 1.5L petrol/mild-hybrid engine or utilise the e-Power range extender technology. The Nissan X-Trail will be packed with features inside and out.
9. 5-Door Force Gurkha:
The 5-door Force Gurkha will take on the upcoming 5-door Mahindra Thar and recently launched Maruti Suzuki Jimny. It will be sold in multiple seating configurations and expect the 2.6L diesel engine borrowed from Mercedes-Benz to stay put.
10. New-Gen Skoda Kodiaq:
The Skoda Kodiaq and its sibling the Volkswagen Tiguan are expected to switch to a new generation next year in India – standing in line with the latest models sold globally. The second-gen Kodiaq, unveiled a few weeks ago, gets a myriad of changes inside and out and is powered by petrol, diesel, mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid options abroad.
