Piaggio India surprise everyone with the entry of Vespa VXL AND SXL 150cc engine in the same body, makes it the most powerful scooter on sale today.
Piaggio has thrown a surprise at everyone. After launching multiple variants of the same scooter with nips and tuck here and there in terms of design and color palate, this time they have done the same with a twist. Looks like Piaggio took the same 125cc 3-valve engine bored it up and made it to displace 150cc, 25 cc more over the donor engine. Yes, the engine is the highlight of today’s launch. The launch was done with famous football player Alessandro Del Piero.
The Vespa SXL and Vespa VXL are available in two variants. The 150 cc 3-valve single-cylinder, air-cooled motor makes 11.6 BHP at 8000 RPM and 11.5 Nm at 6250 RPM. Numbers are truly class leading a good 20% more than the Vespa 125 3-valve engine which continues to make 10.06 PS and 10.6 Nm of torque. Both these powerful motors are mated to a CVT gearbox. It will be interesting to see how the 150cc scooter, which makes even more power and torque from the higher displacement engine over the already powerful 125cc works.
Cosmetically it gets new badges right above the rear tail-light and new color such as Matte Red and Metallic Green along Blue and silver and many more. Alloy wheels come in two color such as white and black. Digital and analogue meter combination comes to these scooters which looks a bit less retro than before. VXL variant is the one with round headlight and SXL is the one square headlight. Piaggio has priced the scooters higher than before. However, they pack more punch in terms of engine power and have new alloy wheels, fatter tyres, standard disc brake for 150cc variant and have way more punch from the engine with a price increase of Rs. 7000/-.
