TVS Apache 200 4V: Ten Things You Need to Know reveals some of the interesting facts about the long-awaited performance motorcycle
Cloaks were lifted off the flagship Apache 200 4V in Chennai and all the detailed specifications have arrived of the new performance bike from TVS. With the whole of auto industry left to revel about the launch, here we have compiled the ten must-know facts about the TVS Apache 200 4V:

Powered by 197.75cc, single-cylinder, SOHC, 4 Valve oil-cooled engine, the TVS Apache 200 churns out 20.5 PS power(21 PS for the Electronic Fuel Injected model) at 8,500 rpm and 18.1 Nm of peak torque at 7,000 rpm coupled with a five-speed manual gearbox. The base Carburettor model is priced at Rs. 88,990 (ex-showroom, Delhi).

TVS will supply the new performance motorcycle to its showrooms across South India first in a phased manner from March onwards before spreading over.

The new Apache can accelerate from 0-60 kmph in 3.95 seconds and can sprint from zero to 100kmph in 12 seconds before topping out 127kmph claims Apache. But some reports say the bike can get as far as 144 kmph with the FI variant shod on Pirelli tyres.

The TVS Apache 200 4V will be offered in eight variants: Carburettor, Fuel Injected, Carburettor with ABS, Fuel Injection with ABS, Carburettor with Pirelli, Fuel Injected with Pirelli, Fuel Injected ABS with Pirelli and Carburettor ABS with Pirelli.

TVS has incorporated Bosch Closed Loop fuel injection and Mapped Injection systems for the FI models resulting in 0.5PS increase in power(21 PS), 129 kmph rated top speed and five tenths quicker than standard Carbo version from 0-60 kmph at 3.9 seconds. The standard model gets Keihin CV carburettor and IDI Dual Mode Injection system.

The total cost of production for the Apache and Victor is around 300 crore and although TVS didn’t give individual break-up, we think it’d be over 150 crore for the new 200 4V.

Astonishingly, the TVS Apache 200 4V can be perceived as a modern evolution of the highly-popular original motorcycle but around 15% brand new parts have been imported from abroad.

It’s the first bike in its category to come sported with Pirelli tyres as option and Fuel Injection-equipped dual channel ABS variant with Pirelli rubber will cost Rs. 1.07 lakh(ex-showroom, Delhi).

It comes with custom made Mono Tube – Monoshock suspension at the rear and Telescopic Forks up front whilst sitting on Double Cradle Split Syncro Stiff Frame. It will have seven colour options including five matte schemes: Black, White, Matte Black, Matte White, Matte Gray, Matte Red and Matte Yellow.

The third largest two wheeler manufacturer in the country is gearing up to sell 7,000 units of the Apache 200 4V by Diwali festive season. During that time it hopes the sporty motorcycle would reach all of its dealerships across the nation.
