Positioned below the Avanza MPV, designed by Daihatsu, the Calya will more likely act as an upmarket rival to the only other LCGC-complying Datsun GO+ Panca and the design is heavily influenced by the Daihatsu UFC-3 Concept debuted at the 2014 edition of the Indonesian motoring exhibition. The Calya mini MPV measures about 4,070 mm in length, 1,655 mm in width and stands 1,600 mm in height.

It boasts a wheelbase of 2,525 mm and has 180 mm ground clearance. Daihatsu will leverage this opportunity and use the same platform and underpinnings to build its own MPV called Sigra. The Calya derives power from a 1.2-litre Dual VVT-i 3NR-VE four-pot petrol motor which is good enough to produce a max power output of 88 PS at 6,000 rpm and 108 Nm of peak torque delivered at 4,200 rpm.

The LCGC compliant engine is coupled with either a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic transmission. The standard features list comprise of second-row HVAC vents, double-DIN multimedia system with CD, AUX and USB provisions, reverse parking sensors, power windows, 60:40 split folding seats in second row and a newly designed dashboard among others.
