Maruti Suzuki Ciaz Facelift

 

Maruti Suzuki Ciaz is the most popular and bestselling midsize sedans in the country right now. The premium offering from the Indo-Japanese automaker is ready to get a facelift. The facelifted Maruti Suzuki Ciaz is expected to be sold through the Nexa premium dealership of the brand.

The company wants it to offer as a more upmarket model. Therefore expect the sedan to get subtle yet significant updates which will ensure the Ciaz comes very appealing to the customers. In terms of design, the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz is unlikely to receive a big change. Instead the little tweaks will play significant role in making it more attractive. The front fascia could come with revised headlamps.

The car gets projector headlamps and integrated LED daytime running lights. The front grille is expected to remain same. It sports chrome garnished horizontal slats. Front bumper of the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz facelift is likely to receive a revising touch and it would get a larger air intake with horizontal slats, chrome trim around the revised fog lamp enclosure.

At the side profile, the Ciaz facelift will come getting new design alloy wheels, turn indicator integrated ORVMs and sharp character lines. Rear of the car is expected to remain same, but the taillights could get LED inserts. Interior of Maruti Suzuki Ciaz is already quite attractive and upmarket. Expect the facelifted version to offer more premiumness. It is likely to come with the same multi-function steering wheel, an updated instrument cluster with analog and digital display, an updated touchscreen SmartPlay infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The seat and upholstery material will surely get updated.

Power source for the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Ciaz facelift would be the same 1.4-litre engine under the hood mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 4-speed automatic transmission will be there on offer as well. The petrol motor is capable of churning out 91 bhp of peak power at 6,000 rpm and 130 Nm of peak torque at 4,000 rpm.

The 1.3-litre diesel engine with SHVS technology kicks out 89 bhp at 4,000 rpm and 200 Nm of torque at 1,750 rpm. It is paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. Expect the car to deliver fuel efficiency of 21 kmpl for petrol manual and 20 kmpl for petrol AT, while the diesel variant will deliver 29 kmpl.

Toyota Yaris

Toyota Yaris is one of the most anticipated cars from the Japanese automaker in India. The sedan is made its appearance at the 2018 New Delhi Auto Expo. The car is likely to be launched here after on May 17th and it is going to be one of the important products from the auto major in the country as Toyota has cleared that it wants to grab more market share by launching premium products here.

The Toyota Yaris has grabbed attention in several South East Asian markets and it is likely to impress the Indian buyers as well. Upon launch here, it would be priced between Rs. 9 lakh and Rs. 13 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi). In terms of design, the Toyota Vios comes wearing a premium stance in line with the automaker’s contemporary global models. Upon arrival, it will lock horns with rivals like Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Hyundai Verna, Honda City and Skoda Rapid.

Speaking about its styling, the car gets sharp headlamps with projector units and integrated LED daytime running lights. The sleek chrome trim connects the headlamps and it enhances the car’s style further by being positioned at the front grille. A large bumper is there incorporating large air intake, neatly positioned round shaped fog lamps at black housing. Moving to the side profile, the car features stylish alloy wheels, sleek character lines, turn indicator integrated ORVMs, nicely curved roofline and blackened glass area.

Moving to the back of the car, the Toyota Yaris features large LED taillights and a thick chrome bar connecting them. Moving inside the cabin, the sedan sports dual-tone theme reflecting an upmarket stance. There are three-spoke multifunction steering wheel, analog and digital display consisting instrument cluster and a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. This car gets several advanced safety features offering great protection for the occupants.

On the powertrain front, upcoming Toyota Yaris will come with only tried and tested 1.5-litre VVT-I petrol engine. The petrol engine would churn out 108 bhp of peak power and 141 Nm of peak torque. Transmission options for the car would include a manual gearbox and a 7-speed automatic unit as well.

2018 Honda Amaze

2018 Honda Amaze India Launch, Price, Engine, Specs, Features, Interior, DesignLaunched back in 2013, the Amaze subcompact sedan had a grand opening in sales charts but its popularity faded away due to the lack of updates and new competition within the highly competitive segment. Honda introduced a light update to the Amaze a few years ago but it was not good enough.

With the latest Maruti Suzuki Dzire, the segment’s potential has been expanded and on comes the new generation Amaze to make a huge difference and it has been displayed at the ongoing 2018 Auto Expo in Greater Noida with changes seemingly everywhere.

The all-new Amaze comprises of front end similar to the latest design language adapted by Honda in India as well as abroad. It gets a sporty appearance finally in its new generation with a slimmer set of headlamps and sharper bodywork. It is created by the company’s Thailand R & D division with inputs from engineers in India and Honda says it is designed with customers’ feedback in mind. There are LED Daytime Running Lights, revised bumper, LED tail lamps and much more. The front fascia is dominated by bigger grille running across the centre.

The new design will surely take the competition right up against Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Xcent and Tata Tigor. In a similar fashion to the exterior, the interior comes with a myriad of changes like new centre console, dashboard and upholstery trim.

There is a large touchscreen infotainment system along with the beige and black interior theme. The circular AC vents are no longer as a rectangular design is used. The buttons and dials have become more upmarket as well.
The new-generation Honda Amaze may likely use the same petrol and diesel engines from the outgoing model. The 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel unit is currently good enough to produce 99 bhp of maximum power and 200 Nm of peak torque. It is mated to a five-speed manual.

The 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol makes 87 bhp and 109 Nm and is coupled with either a five-speed manual or a CVT. Honda has affirmed the existence of a CVT option in the diesel spec in the new version. It is expected to reach the brand’s domestic dealerships across the country in the coming months.

2018 Honda Civic

The automaker has unveiled the new Civic at 2018 Delhi Auto Expo last week prior to the India launch. In India the Civic will return after skipping a whole generation, as the Civic was earlier available in its eighth generation avatar, and now the tenth generation model is on its way.

The new Honda Civic looks fresh with new styling and the car sports a premium design which incorporates the sleek headlamp clusters with integrated LED daytime running lights, thick chrome bar with the Honda logo at the middle, sculpted hood, aggressive looking front bumper with large air intake, black accented round shape fog lamps.

The side profile comes with a plain and suave finishing while the alloy wheels make the car sporty looking. The new Civic gets a swooping roofline, while the rear profile gets boomerang like taillamps, and the rear profile also gets lip spoiler and a muscular bumper.

The interior has been designed to deliver a sporty vibe with multifunction steering wheel, an interesting looking instrument cluster, boxy shaped centre console, horizontally slated AC vents, black themed dashboard with chrome garnishing at different places up front.

Unlike the eighth generation model the tenth generation Honda Civic will come powered by both petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol variant will receive a 1.8 litre unit producing 143 hp of peak power and the diesel variant will be available in range of units which include a 1.5 litre unit churning out 175 hp of peak power and a 1.6 litre unit which pumps out 10 of peak power.

Ford officially introduced Figo Aspire three years ago in India. Even though sales of Aspire are improving, Ford is planning to launch a mid-life facelift soon in India. The facelift model gets the new honeycomb front grill replacing the chrome grill along with an updated bumper and redesigned fog lamp housing.

The designers have also made some changes for headlamp design as the new model gets DRLs. Ford hasn’t changed side design of Aspire and the only change is new alloy wheels. The rear get new bumper and updated tail lamps.
The interior of Aspire facelift is going to see a major change like the recently launched EcoSport facelift.

The centre console design has been changed and the new model gets 6.5 inch touch screen system with Sync 3 software. The infotainment system also gets support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto along with an updated instrument cluster. The American manufacturer will carry over most of the features from current car and the quality is also expected to go a notch up.

Ford Aspire facelift will be powered by new 1.2 L 3 cylinder Dragon series petrol engine replacing the old 1.2 L petrol engine. The new engine produces 94 hp of power and 115 nm of torque and the diesel engine issame 1.5 L unit producing 100 hp of power and 200 nm of torque. Both engines are mated to 5 speed manual gearbox and 5 speed auto on petrol engine. We are expecting Ford to launch Figo Aspire in June.

The Figo Aspire facelift will compete against Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Honda Amaze, Hyundai Xcent and Tata Tigor.

New Nissan Sunny

Nissan launched Sunny in 2011 and since then the company have introduced so many updates but couldn’t help the sedan to increase its volume. The Japanese manufacturer is working on the next generation of Sunny. The current generation Sunny is based on Micra platform and it is basically sedan version of hatchback, but the new model is going to be based on CMF-A+ platform to keep cost down.

The design of new Sunny will be completely different from current car as it is one of its weak points. Nissan designers will give a much more proportionate body without compromising interior space. We can expect new generation European Micra’s design to take an influence on new Sunny because it is one of the most important models for the manufacturer in India and other Asian countries.

Nissan will also pack Sunny with lots of modern features like a new infotainment system, automatic headlamp, cruise control, leather seats, sunroof and more. The current generation Sunny is available with both petrol and diesel engines. But the new model will ditch diesel and it will be petrol only.

The Sunny will be powered by 1.5 L H4K unit producing 106 hp of power and 142 nm of torque. This engine is mated to 5 speed and we can expect an automatic transmission also. The Japanese manufacturer is expected to launch new Sunny later this year and it competes against Hyundai Verna, Honda City and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.

Volkswagen Vento Facelift

We have a good chance to see the Volkswagen Vento facelift to see at the 2018 New Delhi Auto Expo in February next year before its launch here.

Speaking about the Vento sedan, we must say that this car is going to play crucial role in enhancing the German brand’s appeal further in the domestic market. Volkswagen has been trying to become the affordable premium brand in India and Vento could be instrumental in that strategy. The upcoming facelift is unlikely to receive huge changes, but it will certainly come with slight updates adding zing.

On the powertrain front, Volkswagen Vento facelift would carry same engine and transmission options. The current model is available with a 1.2-litre petrol engine and a 1.6-litre petrol motor. On diesel front, it gets a 1.5-litre TDI diesel engine. Transmission options include both manual and automatic units. Expect the power and torque output to be same as current model, while the fuel efficiency could improve. On the pricing front, it would be slightly premium over the present model.

Corolla based Maruti Premium Sedan

Suzuki and Toyota announced in March that both companies will share some models in India to fill the gap in each manufacturers portfolio. Maruti will supply Baleno and Vitara Brezza while Toyota will share new Corolla for Maruti as the company hasn’t been able to crack D segment sedan in India and the last model sold by Maruti was Kizashi in D-segment, but that didn’t work out well also. Even though the styling of both models will be different, mechanical parts will be carried over from Toyota to keep the cost down.

Maruti designers will give a new front grill for Corolla along with updated bumper and fog lamps. We are not expecting headlight to be changed as they are LED headlight which is very advanced. The side profile remains unchanged with a new design for alloy wheels.

At the rear, Maruti will give a new bumper and slightly redesigned boot design. The interior of Maruti Corolla will share most of the parts from Toyota but we are expecting the company to give its own infotainment system as it is better than Toyota’s unit.

Toyota is going to discontinue diesel model with the introduction of next generation model so Maruti Corolla will be powered by a 1.8 L petrol engine producing 139 hp of power at 6,400 rpm and 173 nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. This engine is mated to 6 speed manual and 7 speed CVT gearbox.

Toyota will also introduce hybrid version of the Corolla and this will also be part of Maruti Corolla also. The sales of Corolla will be handled by Nexa and Maruti is expected to sell more than 10,000 units. We can expect Maruti to launch Corolla in 2020.

2018 Volvo S60

The Swedish premium car manufacturer is eyeing to boost its sales in the country market by bringing more products here. It might not have the strength here like three German luxury car brands – Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Audi, but Volvo certainly offers truly exciting products. In recent past we have seen the brand introduced couple of interesting cars here and it is gearing up to introduce few more in near future.

One of the upcoming products in the Indian market from the Swedish brand could be the 2018 Volvo S60. However, exact timing of its arrival here is not sure. But, we can assume Volvo will bring it sometime next year of in 2019. The new Volvo S60 will come more stylish, much sharper and much more appealing compared to the current model.

Not only design or features, it would come incorporating new and advanced high end technologies as well. Expect the car to get sharper headlamps with LED projector lamps and Volvo’s signature Thor’s Hammer LED daytime running lights. As Volvo has promised there won’t be any death involving a car from the brand by 2020, the S60 is expected to come carrying several advanced and high tech safety features and protective technologies that will ensure protection for the occupants as well as for the pedestrians also. On the powertrain front, we can expect new engines to be introduced and as Volvo aims to offer greener powertrain technology across its entire range and India is one of the countries where the brand wants to roll out greener powertrain enabled cars, the S60 could come carrying hybrid technology.

Fiat Tipo Sedan

A big reason behind that is the lack of uniqueness. A major number of products from the brand come based on the Punto. The Linea sedan too comes quite outdated looking compared to modern sedans. Now, in order to boost its sales, Fiat is attempting to launch some spectacular models to bring freshness in its India portfolio and boost the sales as well.

Fiat Tipo is going to be one of the upcoming cars from the Italian auto major. This will replace the current Linea. The Fiat Tipo is already on sale in couple of global markets and it has garnered pretty good response. In India too, Fiat has already patented this car indicating a nearing launch. We can expect it to launch here sometime in early 2018 after being displayed at upcoming New Delhi Auto Expo.

The car would churn out power output between 95 bhp and 120 bhp, while the torque output will be between 127 Nm and 320 Nm, depending on variants. Tata Premium Sedan

Tata EVision Concept Front EndTata Motors revealed EV Vision concept at this year’s Geneva Motor Show which previews the upcoming sedan from the Indian manufacturer. The EV Vision concept is the best looking design concept from the Indian manufacturer till now and it is based on IMPACT 2.0 design theme.

Tata has given small headlamp and grill with bigger air-intakes giving muscular looks for the EV Vision. The side design also continues the muscular feel from the front with chunky alloy wheels. At the rear, the designers have given wrap around tail lamp with exhaust integrated into the bumper.

Like exterior, Tata designers have also continues the futuristic design to the interior. The concept uses lots of hand crafted materials with light colour for the interior and most of the features are controlled by advanced touch screen in the centre console. We can expect some of these designs to be carried forward to production model also. Tata Motors have given lots of advanced features for EV Vision concept which includes geospatial mapping, cloud computing, human-machine interface and more.

Tata EV Vision Concept is based on the OMEGA EV platform, but the Indian manufacturer hasn’t revealed details of battery configuration and power outputs. According to Tata, EV Vision concept can hit 100 kph in 7 sec and it comes with the option of fast and slow charging. But the production model will be powered turbo charged petrol and diesel engines with the option of both manual and automatic transmissions.

Tata Motors is expected to launch production model in 2020 and it will compete against Hyundai Elantra, Skoda Octavia and Toyota Corolla.
