Honda Activa beats both the other scooters and even tops the two wheeler segment in India as well

Scooters have been giving the motorcycles sleepless nights in recent years. The urban commuters prefer the scooters more than the motorcycles. The Honda Activa rules the two wheeler segment in India for last six months. It also has broken the 17 year old record set by the motorcycles. While the Splendor series from the Hero MotoCorp has been very popular and best selling models in the country for quite long time, Honda Activa has beaten the Splendor also.

In June 2016 Honda Activa has sold a total of 226686 units compare to 196913 units sold in June 2015. This marks a 15% growth in the sales of the scooter. The Honda Activa range comprises of Activa 3G, Activa 125 and Activa i. launched in 2001 the scooter has been vehemently popular in this last one and half decade.

At the second position in the list is the TVS Jupiter, which is way behind the Activa. The Jupiter has sold 46145 units in June 2016, compare to 36650 units in June 2015, which marks 26% rise in sales. Another Honda scooter, Dio has also done quite good with 108% rise in sales. In June 2016 the Dio has sold a total of 26428 units. In the same month of last fiscal the Honda Dio sold 12727 units.

Hero Maestro and Duet sit at the fourth and fifth positions. While Maestro sold 24281 units in June 2016, the Duet sold 24017 units in the same month. Yamaha Fascino sold 18415 units in June 2016 compare to 8166 units from the same month last year. Surprisingly the scooter has seen 126% rise in sales.

The Suzuki Access has seen 3% decline in the sales chart compare to June 2015. The Access has sold 14928 units in June 2016. Yamaha Ray has seen a 46% rise with 13367 units sold in June 2016, compare to 9181 units sold in June 2015. The Hero Pleasure has sold 12226 units in June 2016 sitting at the 9th position. At the 10th position of the chart sits the Honda Aviator which has sold only 7467 units in June 2016.
