Top 10 selling scooters in September 2016 saw Honda Activa remaining at the top spot with its sales crossing 3 lakh marks

Honda Activa has proved to be an indomitable product in Indian two-wheeler market in recent times. The scooter range from the Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer broke 17-years motorcycle monopoly in Indian two-wheeler segment last July and became bestselling model in the segment. It continues being on top-of-the-list in September 2016 as well.

For the first time now, Honda Activa’s sales figure has crossed more than 3 lakhs units. It sold 301,529 units in September 2016 compared to 229,382 units in same month last year, marking a whopping 31% growth. Scooter sales in Indian market have grown rapidly compared to motorcycles in recent times. Honda Activa’s sales record proves that prominently.

At the second spot in top 10 selling scooters in last month is TVS Jupiter. The stylish looking scooter sold 60,943 units compared to 48,866 units in corresponding month in 2015. TVS Jupiter also marked a growth of 25% in September to September sales record. At third position is Hero Maestro, which sold 41,550 units in last month. The Hero scooter has seen a 3% decline in last month, as it sold 42,782 units in September 2015.

At fourth and fifth places are Honda Dio and Suzuki Access, and both of these has seen growth of 32% and 103% respectively. Honda Dio sold 33,248 units in last month compared to 25,125 units in September 2015. On the other hand Suzuki Access sold 26,417 units compared to only 12,986 units in same month last year. In top 10 list Hero Duet is at sixth spot, which sold 25,168 units in last month.

Yamaha Ray also has seen impressive success with a growth of 115% in September to September sales. In last month it sold 23,158 units compared to 10,767 units in corresponding month last year. In top 10 list at 8th, 9th and 10th place are Yamaha Fascino, Hero Pleasure and Honda Aviator with 22,186, 17,272 and 11,683 units respectively.
