Renault Captur Launched In India

Renault Captur is powered by the same 1.5L petrol and 1.5L diesel engine sourced from Duster; becomes new flagship model

The French brand debuted the Captur crossover, based on the Duster, at the 2016 Sao Paulo Motor Show. Renault India has grown tremendously since the introduction of the Kwid hatchback. However, for a sustained market presence the company cannot reply on a single product and that’s where the Captur SUV comes in handy. It is based on Duster’s MO platform and becomes the flagship model replacing Koleos.

In its first month in the market, Renault sold 1,119 units of Captur and it helped overtake Duster by 321 units in November 2017. It is now the second best-selling product behind Kwid. Earlier last year, the French auto manufacturer unveiled the Kaptur in Russia which resembles the Euro-spec Renault Captur in looks as only difference being the first alphabet of the name. The European-spec Renault Captur is a five-seater upmarket crossover based on the highly popular Clio hatchback in some markets.

It has Duster’s efficient yet rugged soul but with added upmarket styling, premium features and plenty of room for customisation as Renault boasts about.

The car is specially meant for the developing markets like Russia, Brazil and India. Inspired from the success of the Renault Duster, the compact SUV pretty popular in the country, the Captur will be hoping to emulate the applaudable sales record of its sibling. Here’s everything you need to know about the Renault Captur:

The all-new Renault Captur SUV was first revealed for the Indian market on September 21 while the deliveries and pricing details were announced in early November at official market entry.  Bookings are taken across all authorised Renault showrooms.

It can be ordered through online for Rs. 25,000. It will strengthen the French manufacturer’s utility vehicle offerings in the upmarket SUV segment while predicted to up its market share in the highly competitive environment.
