Production of Aprilia SR 150 Commences at Baramati plant

Aprilia SR150

Aprilia SR 150, the sport scooter made its debut in India at the Auto Expo 2016, has entered the production row at Piaggio’s Baramati plant, Maharashtra. Expect it to be launched around Auguat 2016 with a price tag between Rs. 80000 to Rs. 1 lakh.

The Aprilia SR 150 gets features like dual headlamp, one at the front atop, and one at the beak. The company claims, the latter one displays the off roading capability of the scooter. It also features indicators at the handlebar, dual pod analog instrument cluster, underseat storage compartment, sporty body graphics, alloy grab bar for pillion and flat foot bed for the rider, 14 inch all black alloy wheels with 220 mm disc brake at the front, drum brake at rear, performance oriented tyres. The front the scooter gets telescopic suspension, while the rear gets single side coil spring set up.

Aprilia SR 150 will be offered two different colours, White and Black. The scooter will get power from the Vespa 150’s engine, a 154.4 cc single cylinder three valve air cooled carbureted engine paired with a CVT gear box which sends power to the rear wheels, kicking out 11.55 PS power at 7000 rpm and 11.5 Nm at 5500 rpm. The most important and interesting fact about the scooter is that, this is the first one under the Aprilia brand name in India, which is being locally manufactured.

It will be the most affordable scooter from Aprilia in the country because of its local production. Besides that Vespa is the only brand who manufactures a 150 cc scooter in India at present. Although Aprilia SR 150 will have no competition in Indian market when it gets launched, but we expect other manufacturers to understand the potential.
