Mercedes-Benz SUVs sales reached four million as last month saw 11.8 percent increase and SUVs alone have swept 56,286 units

Mercedes-Benz is on a roll lately with the introduction of new generation products worldwide. From sedans to SUVs, the German luxury automaker has proven that the competition is getting tougher and stronger against fellow compatriots Audi and BMW. Until now, standing as a testament for Mercedes is that more than four million customers have elected to go with its SUVs totally.

The four millionth vehicle was delivered to the respective customer last month as the popularity rises year on year said Daimler’s executive Ola Kallenius. The excellent growth rate means the luxury SUVs from Mercedes-Benz have contributed to the all-time-best sales for the brand this August. The total sales accounted to 1,56,246 units last month which is at 11.8 percent increase over the same period last August and SUVs alone have swept 56,286 units.

The top-selling models retailed by Mercedes-Benz in August 2016 were the GLC and GLA. The German company also saw strong need for the new generation E-Class as well as nearly 17,000 units of the executive big luxury sedan were sold in August. Mercedes has the S-Class as its crowned jewel for so long and since the start of 2015, it is the best-selling luxury sedan in the world.

The Maybach version of the S-Class has garnered around 15,000 units since its launch in 2015. In the Asia Pacific region, the contribution of Mercedes-Benz in the luxury category is immense as 61,605 examples were sold in August 2016 which is at an increase of 20.1 percent. It is followed by Europe where 56,809 units belong to Mercedes-Benz at a surge of 12.9 percent.

The vast Chinese market is still the biggest for the brand as 41,072 units were sold and in United States 28,404 cars were retailed. The smart cars gathered sales of 7,631 units in August 2016 which is at a significant rise of 20.8 percent.
