Mercedes-Benz GLE 400 4Matic gets power from a 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine
Mercedes-Benz India has launched the petrol variant of its highest selling SUV in India, the GLE. The GLE 400 4MATIC gets a powerful V6 petrol engine as the German manufacturer expands the model range. Introduced by Roland Folger, Managing Director and CEO of Mercedes-Benz India, the petrol GLE will be available across all authorised sales outlets and is priced at Rs. 74.90 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi).
The largest luxury car maker in the country hopes to carry on the momentum endured in the opening half of the year in terms of SUV sales with the new GLE variant. The GLE 400 4MATIC is the seventh product from Mercedes’ SUV portfolio and will initially be available via CBU channel before local production commencing later this year.

With the new petrol variant, the GLE SUV now had four versions namely GLE 250d, GLE 350d, GLE 400 and the range-topping AMG GLE 450 Coupe. The GLE 400 4MATIC comes equipped with a 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine that dishes out 333 hp of maximum power output and 480 Nm of peak torque available from 1,600 rpm.
It is mated to a 7G-Tiptronic Plus seven-speed automatic transmission with rapid gear shifting and it enables the gearbox to send power to all four wheels instantly. The top speed is rated at 247 kmph. The five driving modes to choose from are Comfort, Sport, Slippery, Individual and Off-road. Technology wise it features Apple CarPlay as standard and a Harman Kardon Logic 7 surround sound system with 360 degree acoustic experience in every seat.

The highlighting features in the Mercedes-Benz GLE 400 4MATIC are Airmatic suspension with Adaptive Dampening System, Dynamic Select, COMAND Online with New Generation Telematics and Advanced safety and assistance systems. The GLE’s Airmatic air suspension combines with Adaptive Damping System to provide stable driving. It raises the maximum ground clearance to 232 mm and automatically lowers the suspension by 15 mm at high speeds.
Some of the other features made available in the GLE 400 4MATIC are Parking package with Active Parking Assist and 360° camera, full LED headlamps with Intelligent Light System, mirror package with brand logo projection, electric sunroof, memory package for driver and front passenger, etc.
