Mercedes Benz A-Class continues to strength its space in the compact luxury segment with this new facelift
The Mercedes-Benz A-Class has been a successful car ever since it was born. The A-Class has been widely acclaimed for being a stunning piece of design and performs exceptionally well on the Mercedes’s new front wheel drive platform. The A-Class had engines, petrol and diesel engines from the C-Class but weren’t powerful enough. Something that was sorted couple of months back. Let’s find out what are the change on this ‘Green’ Mercedes-Benz A-Class.
The revised exterior of the 2016 Mercedes-Benz A-Class gets redesigned bumpers at the front and rear. The diamond grille is now a standard fare, which is a good move by Mercedes considering that is the truly best part of the car. Needless to say, the rest of the silhouette is a complete eye ball grabber. LED headlights are optionally available with the car and the rear also gets new patterned LED-tail-light which is slightly more chunky than sleeker of pre-facelift.
Mercedes is making A-Class stand out with the new alloy wheel as well. Like the wheels on the bolder side instead of the sleeker and the usual multi-spoke or sportier design. Exterior treatment for the A-Class AMG 45 variant is also similar, except for the new bumper with the red strip on the lower half and diamond grill is standard as always. The AMG variant slightly different interiors with carbon finish, new steering wheel and instrumentation as always is different than the normal A-Class.

On the inside, the Mercedes-Benz A-Class facelift gets CLA-inspired approach in terms of design cues and arrangement. Carbon finish one the dash and typical gear lever is seen as the car is offered in manual and automatic version which cannot come with the stalk on the console, the purist don’t like that stuff. The infotainment system supports Apple’s Car Play and Mirror Link from now. The A-Class gets on request gets the diagonal screen now that measures 20.3 cm (8 inches), making it at least 2.5 cm (1 inch) larger than before. The Interior gets new upholstery, contrast stitching and faux carbon finishes on the dashboard.
The engine on the A-Class AMG 45 makes 381 BHP now. The older car made 355 BHP from its engine. Too much power for a hot-hatch! All the power is put down via a 7-speed DCT gearbox through four wheels and now comes with launch control. Basic engines which are the diesel and petrol engines continue to be the same for India. The 1.6 petrol, the 2.1 diesel 200 CDI sport which will be badged as ‘d’, the new nomenclature for the Mercedes cars. The A-Class facelift is on the way in India soon for early 2016 launch
