Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 Coupe gets power from 357 hp 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 petrol engine that can do 0-100 kmph in 4.9 seconds with 250 kmph top speed

Mercedes-Benz broke covers off the GLC 43 AMG Coupe at the 2016 Paris Motor Show at the end of last September and it has entered India officially today. Priced at Rs. 74.8 lakh (ex-showroom), it is equipped with a 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 petrol motor which is good enough to generate a maximum power output of 357 hp at 5,500 rpm and 520 Nm torque. It can do standstill to 100 kmph in 4.9 seconds before topping out electronically-limited speed of 250 kmph.

The GLC 43 AMG 4Matic Coupe is three tenths slower than the E-Class sibling but 0-100 kmph time is equal to the standard GLC43 with the same engine. It competes directly against the BMW X4 M40i and has 7 bhp more power alongside weighing 60 kilograms lighter. Compared to another rival Porsche Macan GTS’ standard version, the GLC 43 AMG Coupe is three tenths faster.

As similar to the standard GLC, the new Coupe has four-wheel drive system tuned by AMG as it splits the torque between front and rear wheels at 31:69 ratio. The power is transferred to the wheels through the familiar 9G-Tronic nine-speed automatic transmission with quicker gear shift times and can be operated manually (with push of switch in centre console)or automatically.

The five models driver can opt between are Eco, Comfort, Sport, Sport Plus and Individual. Each setup has different tunes to offer the required ride and handling. For improved fuel economy, Mercedes has offered cylinder shut-off technology that shuts the working cylinder when not much power needed and engine start-stop for saving fuel in ideal conditions.

Expectedly, the GLC 43 AMG Coupe retains the same styling cues as the rest of the AMG family badged as 43. It features sporty body panels, quad exhaust system, 19-inch twin-spoke alloy wheels that can be upgraded to 21-inchers. The cabin comprises of black leather trim accentuated with red colour with a multi-functional steering wheel having mounted controls. The seven-inch multimedia system has Bluetooth and USB connectivity while automatic self-leveling, adjustable ride height and independent sports suspension with adjustable dampers are offered as standard equipment.
