Maruti Suzuki registers highest ever domestic monthly sales driven by the success of the Baleno premium hatchback and Vitara Brezza compact SUV

Maruti Suzuki India Limited, leading car manufacturer in passenger vehicles segment in the country, sold a total of 149,143 units in September 2016 at a growth of 31.1 percent over the same period in the last fiscal. It includes 137,321 delivered examples in the domestic market and 11,822 units exported to overseas countries.

In comparison, the Indo-Japanese brand retailed a total of 113,759 units in September last year. At 149,143 units in the concluded month, Maruti Suzuki has rewritten the record books as it is the highest ever total sales in September through its history. More importantly, selling 137,321 units proves to be the highest ever domestic monthly sales for the brand.

Maruti Vitara Brezza Review-3

The entry-level segments saw Alto and Wagon R sold a total of 44,395 units which is at a growth of 24.8 percent last month. The compact cars like Swift, Ritz, Celerio, Baleno and Dzire have managed to sell a cumulative number of 50,324 units. In comparison to September 2015, 12.3 percent surge in sales has been endured.

The Dzire Tour taxi version recorded an encouraging growth of 23 percent with 3,973 units. Moving up the order, the Honda City rivalling Ciaz mid-size sedan has garnered a total of 6,544 units, at a jump of 52.5 percent compared to the same period last year. The biggest difference has been encountered at the utility vehicles space as Gypsy, S-Cross, Ertiga and Vitara Brezza have combined to deliver a total of 18,423 units.

Alto 800 facelift launched

This is at a mammoth increase of 191 percent as only 6,331 units were sold in September 2015 while the Omni and Eeco swept a sales of 13,618 units. The Baleno premium hatchback, launched in October 2015 and Vitara Brezza subcompact SUV, entered market this March, have played a significant role as Maruti Suzuki’s aggressive strategies towards entering premium segments are paying dividends.
