Honda City India 2015

A story that had a movie in the making, caught our eyes lately. It’s about a stolen car and its owner with police arresting the villian in the climax. A retired Army officer had his Honda City stolen, only to find it online on sale after ten long months. A thrilling plot wasn’t it?

The utilisation and the heavy relying on online based service have led to organised crimes emerging in aplenty. The basis for this is unavailability of any procedures to keep track on customers selling multiple items online through retailing sites.

Basically, all you need to have is an email ID and phone number to post the advert with photographs. Coming back to the story unfolded, Kulwant Singh is a retired Army personnel living in Noida at the C Block of sector 21. He parked his Honda City and went for a walk on August 4, 2015.

When he came back, he found his car stolen. He searched everywhere for his car in that particular locality and in the end registered a complaint and filed an FIR at sector 20 police station.

After almost ten months of long research and even lost hope, he suddenly found his Honda City being sold through advertisement on a popular online retailing website for a very cheaper price. Rs. 70,000 was the asked price from the seller which would honestly lure in any wanting buyer.

Following frustrations with no response from the police, Kulwant Singh took the issue on his own. By being aware of the crimes related to online illegal selling, he kept track of the websites and at last he found his car in OLX with registration number DL-4C-R-0757 quoted for Rs 70,000.

He contacted and made a deal that saw him having to meeting with the seller. He went with a police wearing civilian dress and got the cheater arrested on the spot.

However, police claimed that man caught, Ahmad, was just the seller and the people behind him are yet unknown. Noida police officials are planning to take complaint against the website under section 79 of the IT Act as these kind of crimes are growing in large numbers.
