The 2017 KTM Duke 250 comes with an updated design but no engine upgrade; has been exclusively built for the South East Asian markets
Austrian bike-maker KTM has taken the wrap off the 2017 Duke 250. The bike comes with design inspiration from its bigger sibling Duke 390, which has been recently unveiled at the 2016 EICMA in Milan. This Duke 250 has been exclusively built for the South East Asian markets and unfortunately KTM has no plan to launch it in India at present.
Though its shares design and element with 2017 range of KTM models, it misses out on some attractive elements. It doesn’t come with the split LED headlamp and new TFT instrument console. Instead, the new Duke 250 gets halogen headlamp and same old Orange backlit LCD instrument cluster. Based on a lightweight steel trellis frame, the bike gets a muscular fuel tank and side-fairing, which increase its aggressiveness. Now the fuel tank comes with 13.4-litre capacity, offering more running range.

Apart from that, the split seats and narrow tail section give the bike a sporty appearance. The exhaust system has been updated, and the side mounted exhaust replaces the compact underbelly unit in the old model. The new exhaust system indicates that, it comes as Euro-4 emission norm compliant.
Power source for the 2017 KTM Duke 250 is same like the previous model, as it retains the 248.8 cc single-cylinder fuel-injected engine churning out 31 PS of peak power at 9,000 rpm and 24 Nm of peak torque at 7,250 rpm. Transmission duty is done by the same close-ratio, 6-speed gearbox. The bike doesn’t get ride-by-wire technology, which the Duke 390 has received.

For braking duty the bike comes with a 300 mm front disc and a 230 mm rear disc, combined with state-of-the-art dual-channel Bosch ABS. Suspension duty is done by WP inverted front fork, while the rear gets new swing-arm design. This bike runs on 17-inch cast light alloy wheels wrapped in 110 mm wide front and 150 mm wide rear tyres. Pricing of the bike is expected to be revealed soon.
