Renault Kwid Climber comes with several cosmetic updates, additional colours and contrast interior trims; available only in top-spec RXT (O)

Renault in India has banked big on the Kwid once again as it has been tremendously well received by customers. Renault sold over 1,30,000 units of Kwid within 16 months of its launch. The small hatch is a one-of-a-kind offering from the brand in the market and hence it is on the track for more success. The French car maker has planned to do more by not just selling the normal variants alone but wanted to introduce a youthful presence by making the Kwid look more unique.

We saw at the regular model’s launch back in September 2015 on what kind of option showrooms might have for Kwid to make it stand apart. To make things even better, Renault showcased two more concepts – Kwid Climber and Kwid Racer at Auto Expo 2016. We already said that both are coming to elevate Kwid’s appeal another step higher. The Kwid Climber fits the needs perfectly and it has been launched in India after more than a year of waiting.

However, it has arrived with so many changes in contrast to what we have seen at the motoring exhibition. Renault gathered plenty of attention at the Auto Expo due to Kwid Racer and Kwid Climber and both sporty concepts displayed the highest degree in which the Kwid small hatchback can be customised. It was a cross variant and had SUV design elements on it.

The Climber featured roof rails, more pronounced cladding, skid plates, diffuser, etc to make it real when it comes to joining that Climber name to the car. The Renault Kwid Climber concept stood tall and added an SUV-ish presence just like the standard model. It had increased ground clearance, enlarged set of wheels, wider track and short overhangs that ensured the off-roading capability of the small car.
