Making world premiere at the Frankfurt motor show, the first-ever SUV in Jaguar’s 70-year-old history has been built on the same modular aluminium platform as the new XE and XF executive sedans. It will compete against the likes of BMW X3, Audi Q5, Porsche Macan, Volvo XC60 and Mercedes GLC in the mid-size luxury segment.

Jaguar said 81% of the component’s going into the F-pace are new and due to the excessive aluminium of up to 80%, the body weighs just 298 kilos. Steel doors, composite made tailgate and magnesium front end carrier parts are some of the weight saving measures implemented. The engine and chassis technology are adopted from the Jaguar F-Type while the design is influenced by the C-X17 concept displayed back in 2013.
