India-Bound Jeep C-SUV Spied, Launch in 2017

India bound Jeep C-SUV will be manufactured at FCA’s local plant; could be priced around Rs. 25 lakh to Rs. 40 lakh

American SUV maker Jeep has entered the Indian market with their initial offering like Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Grand Cherokee. Now the American auto major is preparing with the C-SUV, codenamed as the Jeep 551. The car is expected to hit the Indian market sometime in first half of 2017. Ahead of that, the car has been spied naked during its TVC shoot in Brazil.

The car, also known as Jeep Compass will be revealed online within a few weeks. Before that the spyshots give us the full view of the car, and it looks aggressive indeed. While its siblings like Wrangler and Grand Cherokee are priced heavily in the country, the Jeep C-SUV aka Compass could be priced around Rs. 25 lakhs to Rs. 40 lakhs, therefore being one of the most affordable Jeep vehicle in India.

The car will be manufactured and sold in the country, and the localized production of the Jeep C-SUV will surely help the company in keeping the price tag lower and competitive. In terms of design, the Jeep C-SUV comes taking design cues from the Grand Cherokee. The car sports sharp projector headlamps with integrated LED daytime running lights, aggressive Jeep signature vertically slated grille with chrome garnishing.

The front bumper of the car is beefy and muscular and dons a large air intake, skid plate, and horizontally positioned LED fog lamps at both sides. At the side profile the car gets dual tone theme, chrome trim around glass area, alloy wheels, squarish wheel arches, black side body cladding. While the rear fascia dons wrap around LED taillights and roof spoiler giving the car a sporty vibe. Inside the cabin, Jeep C-SUV will sport upmarket leather upholstery, and the luxury touches as well.

The Brazilian spec Jeep Compass draws power from a 2.0 litre flex fuel engine and a 2.0 litre multi-jet diesel engine. Expect the Indian market to get the diesel motor under the hood of the car, while on the transmission front the car gets a manual gearbox and a 9-speed automatic gearbox as well.
