Hyundai Creta is one of the very important models in the Hyundai India line up. The compact SUV segment is the highly contested segment in the Indian automobile market. Hyundai India launched the Creta on 21st July, 2015, and the car immediately garnered plenty of admirers and bookings after the launch in very short time.

Hyundai Creta is based on the ix25 concept which was unveiled at the 2014 Beijing Auto Show. The Creta is named after the largest Greek island in the Mediterranean Sea. Designed with the South Korean automaker’s Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design language this car looks rugged, aggressive yet stylish. Although earlier this year, Hyundai hiked the price of the car, but that didn’t affect the popularity of the car.

The car is available in both petrol and diesel fuel options, while the car gets both manual and automatic transmission options as well. On the powertrain front the car comes with a single petrol engine and two different diesel engine options under the hood.

Creta Exterior & Dimensions

The Creta comes with 4270 mm of length, 1780 mm of width, 1630 mm of height and 2590 mm of wheelbase. The car comes with a ground clearance of 190 mm. Hyundai Creta is a rugged and aggressive looking compact SUV. The front fascia of the car sports sharp headlamps with projector units and integrated LED daytime running lights. The front grille bears a hexagonal shape with chrome garnished horizontal slats.

The lower bumper is muscular looking with vertically placed fog lamps at both ends, a skid plate at the bottom. Moving to the side profile, the Creta gets sharp creases, side body cladding, sporty alloy wheels, roof rails, blackened glass area. The rear of the car sports sharp wrap around taillights, roof spoiler with high mounted stop lamp and shark fin antenna atop.

Hyundai Creta Interior and Features

It gets a multifunction steering wheel, stylish instrument cluster, and a centre console housing a 7 inch touchscreen infotainment system which is available in the top end trims although. The touchscreen infotainment system is flanked by dual AC vents at both sides which sport vertical slats. The vertical slated AC vents are positioned at both sid3es of the dashboard as well. The interior offers ample room for the rear passengers. A total of 5 occupants can afford themselves inside the cabin of the car.

Hyundai Creta gets dual front airbags. The top end trim gets 6 airbags. Other than that the Creta sports ABS, EBD, reverse parking camera, Hill Ascent Control (HAC). The car gets a tough and rigid steel structure, which can withstand major impacts.

Hyundai Creta Variant Wise Features:

Hyundai Creta is available in six different variant which are Base, S, S+, SX, SX+ and SX(O). Here are the variant wise features offered in Hyundai Creta.

Hyundai Creta Base:

The Hyundai Creta Base variant comes with natural coloured front and rear skid plate, piano black A pillar, blackened out B pillar. Also the variant features metal finish crash pads, black door scuff plates, follow me headlamps, foldable key, manual air conditioning, front console armrest with storage, electric tailgate, rear AC vents, tilt function power steering etc.

The front seats only get the headrests, not the rear ones. The interior comes sans touchscreen infotainment system. Despite being the cheapest variant the car sports several safety features like dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, impact sensing auto door unlock, lane changing indicator, engine immobilizer etc.

Hyundai Creta S:

The Hyundai Creta S comes with all the features available in the base variants. Additionally, the variant also gets front fog lamps, rear defogger with timer, silver painted front and rear skid plates, sporty roof rails, LED turn indicators on the ORVMS.

Also the S variant features metal finished door handles inside the cabin, rear parcel tray, electrically adjustable ORVMs, centre armrest with cup holder and power outlet for rear occupants, luggage lamp at the boot space. Also the cabin gets front tweeters and touchscreen audio system with Bluetooth, 1 GB memory, audio control, hands free features. The rear occupants get headrests.

Creta S+:

The Creta S+ comes with all the features from the S trim. Added to them the car comes with 16 inch alloy wheels, sharp fin antenna on the roof, and touchscreen audio video navigation system inside the cabin. Also on the safety front the car sports rear parking sensor and rear parking camera with guided display.

Creta SX:

Hyundai Creta SX gets all the features, which are available in the S+. Alongside those it also gets bi xenon projector headlamps, LED daytime running lights, cornering lamps. The front grille gets dual tone finish with chrome and the rear also features chrome embellishment. Also the car sports metallic door scuff plates, fully automatic air conditioning, electrically foldable ORVMs, rear wiper and washer, driver side safety power winder.

Creta SX+:

The Creta SX+ comes with all the features from the SX, and above that it gets some extra features as well. The Creta SX+ comes with child seat anchor in the automatic version only. It also gets 17 inch diamond cut alloy wheels, chrome finished door handles at exterior, leather wrapped steering wheel, smart key, push start and stop button, 60:40 split rear seats.

Creta SX(O):

Creta SX(O) is the top end trim and it gets all the features available in the lower trims. Additionally the top end SX(O) trim also sports plush leather wrapped seats, console armrest and door armrests, supervision cluster, IC light adjustment. Among all the trims Creta offers, this top end trim is the safest with several safety features like side and curtain airbags, ESC, VSM, HAC, height adjustable front seatbelts for both the driver and co passenger, lane change flash adjustment, speed sensing auto door lock.

Engine and Specifications

Hyundai Creta is available with a single petrol engine and two different diesel engine options in Indian market. The petrol engine is a 1591 cc displacing 1.6 litre dual VTVT 4 cylinder DOHC engine which is paired with a 6 speed manual transmission, and the top end SX trim gets a 6 speed automatic variant as well. The engine generates 122 bhp of peak power at 6400 rpm and 154 Nm of peak torque at 4850 rpm.

The smaller diesel engine of Hyundai Creta is powered by a 1396 cc displacing 1.4 litre U2 VGT CRDi 4 cylinder DOHC engine which gets mated to a 6 speed manual gearbox and churns out 89 bhp of peak power at 4000 rpm and 224 Nm of peak torque 1500 rpm.

There is a larger diesel engine in form of a 1.6 litre U2 VGT CRDi 4 cylinder DOHC engine which is mated to a 6 speed manual gearbox as standard and a 6 speed automatic gearbox in the second top trim SX Plus. The engine pumps out 126 bhp of peak power at 4000 rpm and 265 Nm of peak torque at 1900 rpm.

Creta Mileage

The petrol engine of Hyundai Creta delivers an ARAI certified fuel economy of 15.29 kmpl. The 1.4 litre engine delivers a fuel economy of 21.38 kmpl. The 1.6 litre diesel engine delivers 19.67 kmpl of fuel economy in the manual variants, while the automatic variant delivers 17.01 kmpl of fuel economy.
