Honda Brio RS launched in Indonesia; gets interiors updates and sportier exterior package

Honda Indonesia has revealed the RS variant of the Brio small hatchback at the 2016 Indonesia International Motor Show. It was revealed alongside the Brio Satya and prices for the new sportier model will begin from Rp. 174.7 million (Rs. 8.83 lakh).

As the name suggest, the Honda Brio RS variant is a sportier cousin of the newly facelifted Brio Satya for the Indonesian market. It comes equipped with large 15-inch alloy wheels, projector headlamps with LED guiding lights, electrically adjustable Outside Rear View Mirrors with turn signal indicators, side skirts, RS badge in the thick chrome grille, etc.

The sportier package brings a new outlook to the Brio as it’s rather adorable than being an outdated small car. The fog lamps have received revisions as well which look aggressive with the new enclosures and although the side profile is undisturbed, the skirts play a typical role in enhancing the seriousness of the vehicle with a tightly packed rear and glass garnish.

On the inside, the Honda Brio RS comes featured with an all-black interior colour scheme with orange stitches on the seats to make it distinguish from the regular Brio Satya. It also gets a 6.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system besides other changes made to the facelifted model.

The new dashboard is reminiscent to that of the one found in the soon-to-be-launched BR-V SUV in India. It has mono pod instrument cluster alongside HVAC controls. The facelifted Brio gets power from the existing 1.2-litre four-cylinder i-VTEC petrol engine from the outgoing model which is capable of generating a maximum power output of 90 PS and 110 Nm of peak torque.

The petrol motor is linked with a five-speed manual transmission as standard. The Earth Dreams CVT automatic gearbox is in place of the regular five-speed automatic as an optional fitment.
