Honda Activa reaches 3 Lakh milestone in September as it leads the two-wheeler segment with 301,529 units ahead of Hero Splendor at 254,704

Honda Activa sold more than 3-lakh units in September 2016, which marks the scooter’s sales figure crossing 3-lakh mark for the first time. In last month the two-wheeler manufacturer sold 301,529 Activa, which makes the stylish scooter bestselling two-wheeler. Hero Splendor remains at the second position in Indian two-wheeler market with 254,704 units sold in last month.

Honda Activa series has seen an impressive 31% growth in September to September sales. In September 2015 the Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer sold 229,382 units of Activa. On the other hand, Hero Splendor has seen 5% sales growth, as in September 2015 the Splendor series sold 243,188 units. Commuter segment in Indian two-wheeler market is the most competitive segment. Hero MotoCorp is certainly the leader in the segment with several models sitting in 100cc to 125cc space.

Hero HF Deluxe and Hero Passion are two motorcycles sitting at number three and four positions. Hero HF Deluxe has sold 131,867 units compared to 101579 units sold in same month last year, marking an impressive 30% growth. Hero Passion’s sales have been declining for quite some time. And in last month, it has managed to sell 92,378 units compared to 108,395 units in corresponding month last year, which marked a 15% decline.

Hero MotoCorp launched Splendor 110cc with iSmart technology in August earlier this year. The iSmart technology has been introduced to another model Hero Passion as well, which is expected to be launched in the country soon. With the new iSmart technology the two-wheeler manufacturer is expecting sales boost for both Hero Splendor and Passion in coming months.

Among the scooters in Indian two-wheeler market both Suzuki Access and Yamaha Ray has seen impressive growth in sales. Suzuki Access has sold 26,417 units in September 2016, compared to 12,986 units in same month last year, which marked a whopping 103% growth. Yamaha Ray has also seen 115% growth by selling 23,158 units in last month compared to 10,767 units in the corresponding month last year.
