Beat Activ soft-roader, Essentia, facelifted Trailblazer and new Cruze will be launched within next two years

In an official statement released today, General Motors has announced that the plans to introduce the Spin MPV for the domestic market next year have been called off. The seven-seater was expected to compete against the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Honda Mobilio. The Spin was caught running trials on Indian roads several times instigating a launch in 2017 but Chevy has abruptly moved to switch focus towards a new product.

The American manufacturer has had troubled times in recent years with the much lauded Sail twins failing to mae a statement buyers. It is a no-brainer that Chevrolet has decided to turn attention on the growing segments rather than categories with limited opportunities. For instance, the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is wrapping good sales but it’s nowhere compared to its sub-compact siblings like the Swift Dzire and Vitara Brezza.

Chevrolet will be putting all the resources towards bringing a production crossover based on the Beat Activ concept showcased at the Indian Auto Expo 2016 earlier this year. It will be an attractive proposition for the brand as well being a global product. With the domestic market failing to yield, Chevy is currently concentrating on exporting vehicles to nearly 40 countries from its Indian production facility with substantial increase in shipping this year.
