BMW 520d M Sport Launched in India at Rs. 54 Lakh

BMW 520d M Sport gets power from the same latest generation TwinPower 2.0-litre turbo engine as the regular 5 Series making 190 hp and 400 Nm of torque

The 2016 BMW 520d M Sport has been launched in India today and it will be locally manufactured at the brand’s factory in Chennai. Available across all BMW dealerships, the 520d M Sport comes as a diesel variant and is priced at Rs. 54 lakh (ex-showroom). Endorsed to begin a new chapter in 5 Series for the luxury automaker, the 520d M Sport has sporty styling built around a performance-based powertrain.

Staying true to the M identity which embodies motorsport heritage, the 520d M Sport gets a M aerodynamics package and 18-inch M light alloys sporting double spoke design to emphasise road presence. The optimised airflow is guaranteed via large air inlets while the side skirts have sharp contour lines for an aggressive stance.

The exhaust pipes are finished in dark chrome and the sporty diffuser gets dark shadow metallic accentuation. The 520d M Sport also comes equipped with adaptive LED headlamps, M designation on door sill strip and M badge on front wings. On the inside, the interior features electrically adjustable sports front seats for driver and co-passenger.

Additionally, there is all-new leather upholstery underlined by high-grade materials and contrasting seams, the M multifunctional steering wheel is driver focussed besides the presence of aluminium hexagon interior trim strip and BMW Individual headliner Anthracite. Under the hood is where the M branded BMWs excel as the ride and handling elevate to a whole new dimension on the already driver-focussed machines.

It gets the latest generation four-cylinder TwinPower turbocharged diesel engine with enhanced fuel economy. Intriguingly as same as the regular 5 Series, the 2.0-litre motor with CRDI and VGT technologies help deliver a maximum power output of 190 hp and 400 Nm of peak torque. It can sprint from 0-100 kmph in just 7.7 seconds before topping out 233 kmph.

The power is sent to the rear wheels through an eight-speed steptronic automatic transmission available with steering mounted paddle shifters. The 520d M Sport composes of lightweight construction for improved fuel efficiency and 50:50 weight distribution for optimised driving dynamics. Other significant features are automatic start/stop, driver modes such as Eco Pro, Comfort and Sport, regenerative braking technology and so on.

New generation BMW iDrive system with 25.9 cm colour display, BMW Navigation system Professional with 3D maps, Park Distance Control, BMW Apps, Rear View Camera and Bluetooth and USB connectivity are BMW ConnectedDrive features. The safety equipment provided include six airbags, ABS, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) package with Hill Descent Control (HDC), side impact protection, emergency spare wheel, crash sensor, Cornering Brake Control (CBC), Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), electronic vehicle immobiliser, etc.
